Shee- that's awesome! Enjoy your visit with them. We have family from Italy and it is always a wonderful treat when they come.

Don't forget your local freecycle when de-cluttering! Others can benefit from your old stuff and we can keep it out of landfills. I freecycle EVERYTHING I no longer need.

There is no better motivation in the entire world than overnight guests to get those put off chores done. No advice, just get busy now so you can enjoy your visit!!

(I have a favorite niece and I KNOW I'm her favorite Aunt. She is the one I know the best so I think that is why. Shh!!!)

That's great! I was thinking the same thing as golddust, perfect time to do a bit in that extra room before their arrival. Nothing like houseguests to motivate you into a good house cleaning. I am so happy for you. Lucky you, now you can show off your hard work and beautiful home to your very special aunt. Have a great time and enjoy your time together.

Shee, I do have some advice. Sleep in the guest room one night to make sure it is comfortable. The first time I brought DH to my parents' house in Houston, we stayed in their guest room. I had slept in the room many times and never had a problem. This time, the room had recently been painted and the painters re-installed the AC vent backwards. We ended up in a really stuffy room with no air! We fixed the vent the next day, but the first night was pretty miserable.

Patty cakes, funny, because I always buy new pillows for guests! My guest room has been compared to a Bed and Breakfast. I pay lot's of attention to details for my guests but I fail between visits. (Sigh)

Sounds wonderful shee, I love company, I just do. But I am one that is bouncing off the walls beforehand. When they walk in the door I have already had my nervous breakdown and they are not the wiser.

I'll give you the advise my older sister gives me. She says, when they walk in with all the suitcases and stuff they're not going to notice every little thing. Your house doesn't have to be perfect. Meanwhile, if she is the one who is having the company she goes crazy and then opens the door with a smile when they finally get there. We're Italian and this is normal behavior for us.

Polly - There's a local thrift store near us where the money goes to missions. That's where all our stuff goes. Most times the large items that aren't in bags people want before they're even unloaded right! My last trip I took two of those video rockers chairs in great shape and an old school desk (which I'm now kicking myself for getting rid of!) The people there are super nice.

That's a good idea to sleep in the room before hand. I do need to get some type of blinds, I wouldn't want to sleep with nothing on the windows. I don't have any pillows so that's on my list. Also need to get over the door towel hangers for the bathroom. No, I don't wash towels with every shower - they don't either so it's ok. :) I do have extra bedding and night stands so that's a plus.

I just realized I don't have that many days off to do all this stuff. I need to get my butt in gear!
