Reward Hardwood Flooring

We've been looking at replacing the carpet in our dining room and hallway with hardwood. We've been told by flooring salespeople that engineered is the way to go on concrete slab out West. After looking at many different brands, Anderson, BR-111, Kahrs, etc., we came across a name we had never heard: Reward Hardwood Flooring that looks beautiful and is affordable. Has anyone heard of this company? I googled it and found its website but not much else. Its parent company, Galleher is located in southern CA. Does anyone know how I can find a review on it or compare its quality to the better-known brands?

If I remember correctly Galleher is a hardwood distributor so its most likely a private label product distributed by Galleher.

I have Reward Costa Testa.It immediately began cupping all over my house and replacing it would be a nightmare because we would have to basucally move out. It can’t be sanded enough to remove the cupped edges and it‘s a toxic process to stain and finish it with the UV finish so we are stuck. Very very, unhappy. I’ve now got flooring guys telling me that the 4mm wear layer is thin…made a huge mistake choosing this product. Also, it looks nothing like the sample on the website. Theres a ton of very white areas which also were not represented on the sample boards i borrowed.

I'm not quite following your thoughts on the repair but they have used a piece of plywood between the old hardwood flooring and the new bamboo floor. It sounds like you want to remove some of the planks in order to have the voids filled with a continuous longer board rather than a short piece. Have you read about how to replace a damaged tongue and groove board? I think they cut along the joints of the board to remove the middle section and then chip the rest out of the T&G areas. Placing that one new board in would require removing its tongue in order to be able to slip it into place next to an existing board.

Laying the new floor in the same direction as the old floor is not the normal way to go about this. In the building industry, it is more common to see layers that are staggered or "bricked". In other words if layer #1 is laid in a North-South direction, then layer #2 (the top layer) is laid perpendicular to it in an East-West presentation. If you want to run the new flooring in the same direction as the old, you will want to use some underlayment (plywood) over top of the old floor so that you can maintain the "staggered" or "bricked" layering system. That is one way to maintain the North-South presentation. Please work with hardwood flooring professionals who have some experience renovating these old gems. They will have seen what worked....and what didn't. Their experience will be invaluable on a project like yours.

I have the Reward Flooring Costa Collection Rustic Grade European Oak Vela. We like it so far we have had it s year. My only complaint is a couple boards were a little more rustic imperfections than I like. (Pictures attached) The floor was installed in a new house by the builder thus the installer placed the boards with lines in it in front of my refrigerator and the one with the dark spot near my island. I had a independent hardwood guy out and he said the floor is a very good floor he installs it a lot but had his company installed it he would have placed boards like that by the wall where they aren’t seen as much. If you can oversee the install I would say this is a good medium color wood floor.

Did any of you decide to install reward flooring? If so, please share your thoughts on the product. I am considering having the maple saddle installed in my home.

Any reviews are greatly appreciated.

I like Reward's hickory-wide plank collection 'napa'. The widths are varied. Has anyone used it? Any info would be appreciated.

@Joan We will be installing Reward Camino II hickory in the next few weeks. Did you decide to use it? Wondering if yo are happy with it.

@lmp1959 I have a sample of the Reward Camino II in my living room, trying to decide. How did your install go? I’m indecisive and considering for a 2000sqft home... Cheers.
