We have Hickory, and We have 3,4, and 5 inch widths. I love the look of it not being all the same.

I think mixed width is a wonderful look. I'm still trying to decide between Brazilian Rosewood or Amendoim.

The company we are going to go with has 3 & 4 inch I think? I was thinking you wouldn't be able to see the difference though like you would with 3,4 & 5, so I may go with just one width.

I too prefer the look of mixed width, but we ended up going with only 5" hickory. Regardless of the widths, I don't think you can make hickory boards all look the same. :)

Crazyhouse those are some beautiful floors! I can't wait til we get ours. It's going to be 6 months down the road but we're planning and waiting for a couple more samples to satisfy my curiosity.

goodbyekitty - I loved the amendoim samples I looked at (didn't ever look into Braz. rosewood). Please post pictures when yours go in.

legallin - They are conservation grade (I think that's the term the local distributor used); meaning they are longer boards with more character than a select grade, but less than a character grade. The stain is a custom mix of about 2 parts natural and 1 part chestnut. We had about 6 different sample colors across the floor before we decided on the final color.

Thanks for the photo -- does anyone else have photos of 3", 4" or a mix of 3-4-5" hickory? I think we'll probably go with select, my DH doesn't think all the variation will work well in our home. TIA
