Need pics of 4-5' hardwood (walnut, hickory etc medium to dark)
Comments (1)Look into dark STRAND bamboo. Ecotimber is available everywhere and was ranked highest in CR tests. It is unbelievably durable and hard, plus has the "medium amber" color that runs all the way through - good in case of a gouge (if that were possible). The look is of upscale hardwood, but with a slightly bamboo "grain" to it. Will post pics when they finish and get the dust off....See MoreHandscraped hardwood floor with limestone insert- any pictures??

Comments (8)Just wanted to add that I think I just found out why my existing wood floors (BR-111 Tigerwood) in my bedroom have worn so terribly. I remembered there was a box of extra pieces from the installation about 5 years ago left over in my attic. Imagine my surprise when I got them out and discovered they are the thickness of balsa wood! The veneer layer on the ones I'm looking at are 1/16th of an inch and the veneer on the old wood is not even measurable. The total thickness of the entire board is less than half the thickness of the boards I'm considering. There is really just one layer below the veneer. I think my new floors will turn out much better and I have a poor opinion of the durability of wood for a reason! I am feeling a bit better now that whatever I get will fare much better than my old wood floors. I am kind of surprised because I thought BR-111 was supposed to be a decent company. Has there been that much advance in the manufacture of engineered floors in 5 years?...See MoreRed Oak Floor Stain: Go Lighter! {Classic Gray & Special Walnut blend}
Comments (27)@Amy Molina thank you for advising. your color really is beautiful!!! i just selected last monday chestnut/classic. it did not appear to have any of that red orange showing through - just a nice neutral brown color. in my opinion, it is like a special walnut but greatly improved. special walnut was a yuck! color on my floor showing orange and the grains too bold. classic gray is the ticket to modernize a color if looking for a brown. its just finding the right brown that is tricky. now i am just hoping i selected a dark enough brown - yoir looks great! they come and do ours tomorrow in the official color....See Morehappymomof8
