Red Oak Floor Refinishing to Grey??

Kari R

Was wondering if anyone has successfully refinished their red oak floors and managed to lose the yellow/orangy tones and change them to a nice, light greyish tone. We are embarking on a kitchen remodel and the oak floors will need to be addressed. Theyve been refinished once, not very very well but done by PO. Floors are only about 10 years old. Love the look of the dark finished floors but don't want to be a slave to cleaning, especially with 3 lil ones! So, I'm loving a reclaimed wood with lighter ones look. The flooring guy has said that refinishig them will be much cheaper than removing and replacing and 'the sky is the limit' with what you can do. Is it true and will it be cost effective to get a similar look? To get an idea of what I like the Kentwood Originals slolid hardwood in Brushed Oak Wolf Creek would be close. I understand the look I want is different than what I have but just wonderig how close it can get, if at all and not for a fortune! Thanks!
