Adding a ceiling register

My upstairs mancave gets awfully warm in the summer and I'm wanting to run a new register to help with cooling. The room is rectangular, something like a shoebox. One end cools just fine but the other end where my couch is doesnt cool so well. There is a register down at the couch end that doesnt cool well as the airflow is anemic. There is nothing wrong with the duct or any of the mechanics, it's just a long run.

I am moving an existing duct which was fairly needless because of its proximity to a return I added.

My question is; is it a problem to add a register in the ceiling about 6' directly across from the anemic register? Keeping the shoebox in mind the setup I had in mind was 2 ducts/registers at the end that is not cooling well directly across from each other with about 6' between. Is this O.K.?

To fill out my inquiry, how is the duct pipe connected to the register? Is there some sort of box to which the duct pipe is connected and provides for the supply register to be attached to its' bottom? Should the supply air vents blow air down the wall or across, i.e. parallel, to the ceiling? There are diverse vent patterns available, for example at the Pex Supply site link provided below. inside the house you see the supply grill or register inside the attic is the supply box the supply grill is attached with screws through the sheetrock & into the supply box.(usually 2 1/2 to 3" screws) the duct attaches to the supply box at attic floor the other end of the duct attaches to supply plenum. and the knee bone is connected to the leg bone and the leg bone is connected to the hip bone... best of luck

The latch is probably one that turns back and forth held on by rivet type connection that allows user to slide back and forth. If you're skilled with tools, you could take a drill with a metal drill bit slightly larger than the rivet holding that clasp to the register. Use a wide tooth flat screw driver to pry that clasp from the vent register --- the back of the vent cover, then drill that rivet from back side of register to remove that sliding clasp, then drill a somewhat smaller hole than the screw size you plan to use into where the clasp slides in on the vent side in the wall (floor or ceiling --- however the vent boot is mounted) Choose a screw (lag bolt or other of your preference) and use that to keep the vent register in place. Otherwise, you're looking at sizing up a new register to fit over the existing boot of the vent in question, not to mention figuring out a way to attach it.

These don't have dampers to adjust the airflow so I'm not sure they're right for your application.
