They are battery operated, right? Is there a switch on the head? So the only way to get to it to turn it off would be to turn the water off first. I was just looking at them again yesterday and noticed the battery part.

Just my experience, but... 1. Yes, it will grow back if you simply overseed 2. Depending on the type of grass it is, rototilling and picking will likely not be sufficient. Ive spent the last year trying to eliminate the stuff, and am only now feeling like Ive gotten ahead of the problem. One polite suggestion: dont plant grass. Find some other groundcover type of plant to put there. Grass just isnt a good idea here in AZ, uses too much water and needs fertilizing, pesticiding, etc. Try sweet potatos. The kitty will appreciate the hiding spots, and it can be manicured and kept looking good without so much additional chemicals.

Ya I get that's a huge moth, thank u dr. Obvious. I've seen one of these monsters too. Twice in fact. I was sitting on my front patio n one flew out of my sycamore in started crashing around the roofed-in area where I was sitting. It was about 6-9 inches long though. I wanted to take a picture of it holding my husbands shoe up nxt to it to compare length but it kept fluttering it's wings when I got too close n I was totally freaked out by it. A cpl of nights later I was stopped at a red light in the inner lft turn lane when I heard in the truck nxt to me a woman screaming. I looked ovr n saw another mammoth moth on her windshield n she was goin batsh** cuz she cldnt get it off. Needless to say we all missed the red light watching her wail in fear until I shouted to her to turn on her wipers n the beast was scared off. This scene happened about 2 miles from my house so I don't kno if it was tge same one or nit but in all the yrs I've visited n lived in Palmdale, ca those were the only 2 times I've seen or heard of an insect like that!

Ok, I have to say I agree with the original post. This has actually been on my mind a lot this week - one of my magazines came in the mail and it had an article on poisonous plants that really freaked me out. I have foxglove everywhere - it grows naturally all over my 5 acres and has self seeded extensively in the gardens right by my house, deck, patios, etc. I always knew it was toxic but kept it because it's so darn pretty, but then I read that ONE NIBBLE of ANY part of the plant would kill an adult. I had no idea - I'd pictured an upset stomach at worst. I have a young toddler who is very well parented, well taught, and constantly watched, and yet he is still a toddler. If you have ever had one, especially a busy one like mine, you know that no amount of teaching can guarantee that a very small child won't put something in his mouth. If my son is feeling especially rambunctious he might pop a rock in his mouth just to vex me. What if he popped a leaf in his mouth? I'm pulling them all out during his naps this week. It's a huge job, but I don't want the risk. Anyhow, I would have appreciated a little disclaimer somewhere letting me know just how dangerous these plants are... I guess I didn't buy them, but all the same... Happy gardening!
