My choice would be Wilsonart, hands down.

Wilsonart is top shelf stuff, Depending on which Armstrong, it is either middle of the road, or very budget.

I have had Wilsonart for about 8 years and it has held up very well. I wish I could remember what the exact name is but I suppose they have all changed anyway. We still get many compliments on it.

It is in our basement where we have a family room/guest room, an office and a large playroom. I never worry about messing up that floor. You can scratch it with something very heavy but the scratches are not very noticeable. I vacuum it and mop it with just a little bit of water (as in spray bottle).

thanks odiegirl13. The names probably have changed by now. I am looking at their classic selection. I have columns in my living room and trying to get a flooring that has a formal look to it. Definitely want a beveled edge. Anyone else with experience with either the Wilsonart or Armstrong laminate flooring?

I forgot to mention the one thing I don't like about any laminate. This may not be an issue for you but our flooring is installed in our basement. Laminate does not absorb sound like wood does. It can get pretty loud down in the basement and even the TV is kind of hard to hear if that makes sense. Walking on it is louder as is dropping anything on it. I would not change from laminate in my basement but it is something to be aware of.

I am having it installed in the LR/DR/Kitchen. Also trying to get ideas on a good underlayment. Any suggestions floorguy?

I like the Floor Muffler with the Ultra Seal.

The previous owners installed Wilsonart in our kitchen, it's 10 years old and still looks new. My only complain is it's a shiny finish, so water spots show like crazy in the right light.

the laminate is going into the L/R, D/R, Kithen. My house has a formal feel with columns in the L/R and Kitchen. Trying to find the best style for this decor. Any suggestions?

I purchased the Armstrong Grand Illusions laminate (Bruce Park Ave the same) and installed it. It was half inch and went together very well, and looks great. Very hard finish and I would recommend it. If you can get the Wilsonart equivalent at a good price, I'm sure you will do as well.

Just a general bit of info for you. Wilsonart is very good. Some of the Armstrong Laminates were the highest rated by consumer reports. My point? its a brand and within that brand are many variations of the same type of product made in different ways, with different wear layers etc. A generic is Pergo good? isn't a very good evaluation of a flooring product. The Grand Illussions looks more like hardwood than anything I've seen. Individual 3 -5" planks are way more realistic that one plank showing 3 strips of wood. Go with what you like but keep your expectations realistic.

Yesterday was told by older independent flooring retailer who sells both - Wilsonart wears better; Armstrong looks better.
