CeramicTile--Leaky Basement??

Lisa Hayes

We have an area that juts out in our basement that leaks every so often. It may leak one winter/spring or stay completely dry the next year. It just depends on how wet the season is. We have laminate now and it has warped because of one particularly wet year. I would like to put some ceramic tile down. How would it do? This area is never under water completely. We also vacuum the water with a shop vac when this happens.

Tile may well be the best-suited floor covering for such an area. Use thinset mortar to install the tile and it will hold up under most conditions. A few soakings shouldn't hurt it at all.:)
