How interesting about Fredrick Mistral's second name! I have seen pictures of that rose before and it is lovely. Love Song is beautiful, but not as Fragrant as Angel Face, I understand, so if I get that one, it might go in another bed. I don't have any good photos of my memory garden at present, but hope to in the future. I do have Kiss Me Kate growing on an old gate set against the house wall. My Memory garden is off the end of a long patio, continuing along the back of the house. Eventually, we plan to build a flat roof over this patio, with a spiral stairway at the corner adjacent to my garden. I plan to grow either a wisteria or climbing rose up the side of the stairway and training it over the edge of the patio roofline, which will give an arbor sort of entrance to my garden. That will come later...too many other projects just now! I enjoy all your suggestions with accompanying photos! Interesting that you mention Young Lycidas, because I have that one already on order for this spring. I don't hear as much about that one as some of the other DA roses, but I love the magenta tones. When I did a Houzz search and saw your photos of YL in your garden, I went ahead and ordered it. I hope mine looks as pretty as yours someday.

Well, this is embarrassing. It turns out that we had about 1.8 inches, not the three inches I reported earlier. I have two other rain gauges in my garden, inserted in the ground to monitor that the irrigation is working properly. I checked them because it seemed odd to me that we had such a different result than everyone else. The one I usually use to monitor rainfall is mounted on a pole on the fence, and that is the one that had three inches. Normally it is accurate, so I do not know what happened this time. I cannot imagine what would cause this, but it is better to know what really happened rather than live in a bubble of self-delusion.

Party, I was copying your recipe into my iPad. I found this recipe for Lemon Ice cream that I know is really good. I haven’t made it in awhile, but I’ve always made it in my machine. 🥰 Sooo good lemon ice cream mamapinky0July 15, 2018 No churn. 1 Tablespoon finely grated lemon zest 1/4cup freshly squeezed lemon juice from about 2 lemons. 1cup sugar 1/8 teaspoon table salt 1 cup heavy cream 1 cup whole milk Whisk together lemon zest, lemon juice, sugar, and salt. In seperate bowl whisk cream and milk just until incorporated together. Slowly whisk cream mixture into lemon mixture until you no longer hear or feel the sugar against the bowl about 2 minutes. Pour into a 8 inch metal baking pan, cover tightly with foil and put in freezer... after a couple hours the edges should be froze firm and the middle mushy. Stir it up recover and put back in freezer until frozen about an hour. Or make it in a machine.

@Lilyfinch z9a Murrieta Ca its funny i recall most of my roses tend to have their pink tones become more prevalent in the heat while the apricot fades Blessed Child seems to be doing the opposite. Each new flower seems to have a more intense apricot tone.
