Back before I was married, and worked in a mall bookstore in Lexington, the story was that George used to sell shoes or something, at McAlpin's (a department store). Now I don't remember if it was supposed to be the same mall, but that didn't really matter. The point was to give the girls something to sigh over while we passed the hours...:o) Linda, it is definitely icky here today! It was drizzling ice, and it just started snowing. Cold, cold. But maybe this will be the last of it! So did your daughter make it into any scenes in the movie? That must have been so much fun! I told my mom about the makeover show being in town, and she couldn't believe they weren't redoing OUR house. I said, "Why, did you call in and request it?" Sorry, don't know, but keep on trying! This is my first year of container gardening, too. I have about 20 pots in my yard. Right before the 100+ temperatures hit, I got up a 50% white shadecloth. It really works well! The plants that are shaded all day do very well, the ones that are in front are yellowing and suffering a bit. I think the sun weakens plants and lets the buggies really go to town. I just caught 4 tomato hornworms that ate 80% of my tomato plants :(. And my sunflowers are infested with some weird brown patches that are making the leaves limp.

When I began the series of radiations for prostate cancer, Jan. 6, the radiation therapists (as they call themselves _ I call them "radiators") told me that I'd likely need to be visiting the bathroom more often - and they ... were... not... kidding! Like - about 20 times a day, some days, sometimes in rather concentrated "shots" ... so that sometimes I can have a couple of hours to myself. Anyway ... the doc suggested some imodium to slow down the diarrhea, and I've been using it for a couple of weeks ... with little visible result. The therapist told me the other day, on my having asked, that I could probably expect some "hangover" ... ... for a couple of weeks ... to a month ... after the radiation is completed, on Wed. Feb. 24. Wish me luck! ole joyfuelled ... with rather low level of usual fuelling, lately

How kind you all are to post with help! Yesterday afternoon I went back to bed, shaking too hard to hold a magazine. We've started on a heat wave here (mid-70's), but I tucked under blanket and duvet. I don't remember going to sleep, but did, and slept for an hour. Woke, felt hot. Temp was 101F, but went down to 100 after I drank more water -- and threw off the covers! This morning I'm still above my 'normal' of 97.8F, but am feeling much better and no longer having 'the shakes'. My bowels did move -- still formless, but there is less gas. DH laundered the bedclothes and I took a short shower. Talked to DIL and grandkids for half an hour. Now off to nap for a bit while DH watches Da Bears. I am actually thrilled when I *can* run a fever. It usually means my body is *doing something* about a problem. Those low grade fevers don't help like 101! My hemoglobin is at 7 -- from a pre-op 14. Surgeon posited a transfusion, but I wasn't eager. He also spoke about iron supplement -- more 'constipation' -- not now, thanks. Anyway, I am improving -- and You Helped! wanda -- My surgery was laparoscopic -- five 1 - 2 inch incisions. My mid-section looks like I was run over by a truck tire -- black and blue, especially on my left side where the blood pooled during two hours of surgery. (It looks a bit like the map of Russia. LOL)
