Read an article in the paper today about recent changes Yahoo has instituted. Then I found similar info on the computer forum here about Hotmail. Facebook too.

Be a good idea to check your settings if you use any of them.

You just go in there and set your privacy settings is all. I'm a big FB fan and none of my "friends" have ever had a problem so far. FB friends always notify each other on the page when there are changes like this.

Do you have FB? I love it!

Oakley, just sharing what I read. Apparently a lot of people think their settings are more private than they actually are.

OH YES! I got hacked about 3 years ago and it was a dad blasted mess!!! I couldn't even get into my account because they changed my password. Talk about being Mad!!! I've used the same account since I started on the WWW and I was not going to start a new one. It'd take nearly a week for me to get my account back and then within a day, they be back and change my password again. They were using my id to buy items on Ebay. So, I did finally change my Ebay email address to one that I only use for Ebay and that stopped them. Believe me, I've got a password with many numbers and letters that I don't think they will be able to get. Good luck. You shouldn't have anymore probems if they deleted your account. Just make sure that they didn't buy stuff on Ebay and charge it to you. This was another one of those times that God brought everything together for me. I hadn't bought anything on Ebay for a while when this happened so I hadn't checked it out. But I do my bank account auditing online and I caught them withing 10 minutes of getting access to my account. So, I didn't loose anything. The bank refunded me $40 that they did get access to in those 10 minutes, but I normally wouldn't have checked it then but I had to pay a bill and wnated to make sure I had enought money and found the hackers. They would have cleaned me out of my $118 that I had in my account in a short time if I hadn't checked. Amazing how God takes care of us!!!

rather than deleting one when it is like that instead use that email address when signing up for things online or when ordering stuff that way if it gets on some spam list no harm it is already a spammed addy. Most people do just that then always have one address that is solely used for that type of action and never use their good main email addy for anything other than actual email with family and friends. however the way they turn into spammed addys is when you have people that forward email to you with exposed addys in the To field, the spammers start those just to have them spread like a fire and then they rake in all those email addys. Which is why everyone should use the BCC feature when emailing. I have many email addresses, one is yahoo which I rarely use but in all the years I have had it I have had maybe 4 spam. My hotmail which I use daily I get maybe 4-5 a week. Using the provided spam filters also helps and anytime you get a spam mail make sure to send it to the spam or junk folder rather than delete it so that the program can learn what is junk.

Think I might close all my browsers and delete my cookies for yahoo with something like CCleaner. Then I might make sure I accept yahoo cookies, and go to www.yahoo.com and login. Use CCleaner to always save that cookie. Tell my browser to always accept their cookies. Then only have to login once every two weeks hopefully.

Natal, this has been around for a few months now, most know about it. And there's really no information to share, no address,phone number, credit card,nothing.

My name could be found, but so what? My page is private and no one could look at it. And if they do, aint nuthin there too exciting except for chit chat! lol

Mitch, I did the same with Hotmail last night. Dh started having weird stuff pop up on Yahoo and if it weren't for the newspaper article he would've still been in the dark as to what was happening.

I had no idea why I was seeing those strange things on yahoo either! Thank you for posting this. I had a bunch of work people lingering in my yahoo contact list from emails I had to send in an "emergency" when email was down at work. I just deleted them all and have checked my settings in both places.

Interesting. Thanks for posting this. I double checked my settings and adjusted what I could in hotmail. Though I couldn't find the "permissions" link.

I don't get why people would actually fill out all that info (phone numbers etc.) What's the point?

I really wish they wouldn't do stuff like that. It's enough to make me want to delete my account. I still might.
