When we priced the Ikea cabinets for her kitchen they where considerably more expensive than the Schrock ones and we did not have an Ikea close enough to go to see them in person. She wanted painted cabinets not thermofoil and schrock cabinets have wood drawers, dove tail construction. So for the $ they really are nice cabinets. Another line that is fairly inexpensive is Mid continent cabinets. The dealer in our area for the mid-continent is difficult to work with so we passed on them. Steph- the flooring is from lowes the allen + roth brand, pretty inexpensive and it is individual planks. It looks nice the planks had a foam backing attached to them. I have a vinyl plank flooring in my basement and I love it. I do daycare and it is very nice looking and cleans up easily. I would not hesitate to put the vinyl floor on cement.

No engineered stone is approved for UV exposure. It’s not an industry secret at all. None can go outside. Period. If your professionals that you worked with had done their jobs, you’d be an educated consumer and know that it’s not an exclusion just for Cambria. Direct sun from standard new windows shouldn’t pass enough UV to damage your floors, furniture, or e-stone. Standard windows already come with UV blocking properties, so if yours are so old that they don’t have it, you’ve got other issues about UV exposure in your house. Old windows need UV blocking film installed to avoid degradation to all kinds of interior finishes. Not just your e-stone. If it’s a relatively new window, that’s a conversation that you need to have with your window manufacturer. It’s defective. This is Not on Cambria. Or Silestone. Or Pental. Or Zodiaq. Or any e-stone manufacturer. New windows shouldn’t have issues with transmitting enough UV to damage your home.. Poop happens. This isn’t on Cambria. Talk to your window manufacturer.

Just wanted to share some principals involved with inductive and magnetic loads and the problems they can cause GFCIs/GFIs. You can look at this as purely theoretical FYI stuff, but hopefully can find it interesting facts. Upon energizing say, a motor load, current rushes into the windings and because of the nature of the coils/windings, a magnetic field is started to form. This causes a LAG, or delay in the circuit current flow OUT of the circuit - in other words, the inductors oppose changes in current (to some, you may remember ELI and ICE principals). So, while the motor or magnetic load begins building up the magnetic field, current is opposed enough leaving the circuit to cause GFCIs to sense this (>5milli-amps) difference), and trip. Why does it not happen every time? Depends on exactly where the motor's rotor is positioned to the stator's windings - sometimes more magnetizing current is drawn based on the position of the rotor and additional starting current needed to get the rotor initially moving. Regarding AFCI protection devices - they are susceptible to actuating when plugging an old school motor with brushes - think about it... AFCIs are to protect from ARCs, right?? And what happens on the commutator of universal motors?... Arcing! So the AFCIs are operating as designed, ironically... just not desirable.

Went to a Red Line Liquidators about 10 minutes away. They were having a 50% off sale on home goods. I found bed quilts that I had my eye on at Target...not a great brand**Fieldcrest** but they were linen with cotton fill for an amazing price of 8 dollars each. They are super nice and heck a cheap poly blanket from Family Dollar costs more. I took them home gave them a super long hot wash and they are really nice. These were new in the package not used quilts. Red Line doesn't sell used stuff.
