brendan the Remove It Permanently extension for firefox will get rid of them. Install it then right click on what you want to eliminate and click on RIP advanced and set it to remove from domain then right click on it again and click on 'remove this permanently' and its gone. You only have to set remove from domain once unless you want to change it.

With both Firefox and Chrome you need an add-on to eliminate ads. Opera has had content blocker long before adblock came around and it is integrated so it works far better. I don't understand why people refuse to use the best, fastest and safest browser out there. You don't need the extra precautions like you do with Firefox, Chrome, IE and you also have a less bloated browser. You also don't have to put up with the constant updates that the others require while they try to catch up to the one they try to copy. But, to each their own.
