Does laminate chip?

I am trying to decide on flooring choices for our new build. I have found the following laminate (link below)and really am impressed with the look of it as I wasn't even considering laminate until I saw this product in store. It is an 8mm from Shaw. I am wondering if anyone has experienced chipping (or any other problems) with laminate (and if so what was the chip a result of).

Sure laminate can chip. Just drop something heavy on it as a point load. It can also swell and buckle if exposed to moisture or installed without an expansion gap. If it's shiny, but especially shiny and dark, it can show footprints and dirt much worse than matte, but that's a characteristic of shiny, not necessarily laminate.

Wood can do all of those things as well, but there is more wood under the chip. It's not a printed picture of wood with MDF underneath. Wood can also swell if exposed to moisture, but about 70% of the time, if you dry it out fast enough, it will just return to normal with no real lasting damage. Wood also adds some value to your home. Laminate does not and never will. "Laminate wood floor" is an oxymoron coined by realtors trying to prey on the ignorance of buyers.

I'm on my second Wolf l doubles. The first were replaced earlier I'm the year for chipping. They were only in use about 18 months old, but were unused floor models so a little older. The chipping occurred in the front bottom corners of each oven and on the door of one of them. Bradlee Distributors was the distributor who replaced them. I did the manual-recommended burn-in on these. I noticed chipping in my new ovens after a short time. On these, however, I did the slow burn-in Kaseki recommended. I haven't called a Wolf yet as I was waiting until closer to the release of the M. I haven't noticed blue enamel in my food yet. We've noted here before the preponderance of us PNWers with the chipping. I still find that very interesting.

Oh wow...that is amazing. I was gifted a faux fireplace that had been in a house that suffered a fire. Then it was left outside, and when I went to wash the soot off (luckily it did not smell), most of the old paint washed off. I tried to sand the rest of the paint off, but it just smeared. I think it was still a bit damp. Anyway, I painted over it with some pale green and want to get a lot of the green paint off, then maybe hit it with some glaze. It's got a lot of dentil molding and is really nice, but it NEEDS to be distressed finished. I will attempt to post a pic when I can download them off the camera. I'm going to check out that blog for more inspiration. I hope someone can come up with a way to distress like that piece shown tho!

does your white cabinet paint chip?

There are companies that come out and do touch up.(And, they also told me that they would clean the cabinets too.) We had damage to a corner of a cabinet when the cabinet next to it had to be replaced because the size was wrong. They gave me a thick touch up filler stick and a small bottle of paint. I have use the stick and it fills in nicely. I think that this is just one of those things with a white kitchen. No one but me would notice every little tiny chip or ding. And over all, the kitchen still looks great.

Find a countertop shop, they might have small pieces they'd be willing to sell. Or see if they would sell you a bar cap or two. Most will have heat activated glue on them, so you can use an iron to put them on.
