I had a similar problem with the nose pads hurting. If they were set further apart, my glasses slipped down my nose too much, but if I positioned them closer together for a tighter fit, they hurt my nose after a few minutes. I brought them in and the technician told me that both our nose and ears are supposed to account for an equal balance of weight, in how our glasses rest on our face. He said the arms of my glasses were too long, causing my glasses to slip down, which prompted me to position the nose pads too tightly on my nose. He simply bent the ends of the arms so they wrapped a bit around the top of my ears, instead of just sticking straight. This gave my glasses a more snug fit so I didn't have to have the nose pads so tight. Worth a try if you haven't already.

My glasses arrived this morning. Good news and bad news. Rob, thank you for linking Eyebuy Direct, they did a GREAT job! The good news is that my vision is crisp, clear and much better than it has been for several years, with the glasses. A real difference. The bad news is that now when I look in the mirror using the new computer glasses (I got a pair of bifocals and a pair of computer glasses) I can see every eyebrow hair, pore, and unevenly applied makeup job and what I thought was an acceptable makeup job clearly is not, so I'll be spending a tad more time applying stuff.

My house reflects me, yes-or at least whatever can be described as me..to a degree I can do that, given there are other people inabiting it too)) I'm the most stubborn and sure of myself when it comes to houses-because I guess that's when one can have total control without devastating others too much. But I can't supress them either..it's their place too. And needs to reflect them too. First of course I had to think-what is it, that "me", that I want it to reflect? In a new house? Because things change, a bit or a lot, depends-and I want to "write" the changes onto my house as much as I want to "write" something that never ever changed and never will I love folk and fairy tales and animals and books and flowers and strange creatures and portraits. I always loved all that I just realized that what won't be authentic right now to me -is the happy ending which most-not all- fairy tales have. The rest stays. So I thought and thought (and opened once a thread btw which helped me a lot) and narrowed it down to a single word that's fitting-and went ahead It's still not exactly what I want it to be That's largely because I consider "wanting" by itself a certain luxury. Lately. It means I'm in a darn good mood if I really want something related to the house. And also because of some other things..I won't go into it because I aleady take too much space and I'm not sure I 'm even conveying my thoughts in a good way As for wardrobe-well I'm a moody person, so I have love for many things. Some parts of it are pretty classic simple stuff, some-bohemian, some-quirky or deconstructed I dislike formal attire-it can look amazing btw, I still dislike the idea- and everything that I have to think about too much after I put it on. I do care-I just don't want to care once it's on me. I guess pretty much same with the house. I do care..I just don't want to care too much. I like patina, and handmade stuff, and assymetry, and if the lines are all on the same level)say art-and door, or window frame) it irritates me..it doesn't when it's other people's place, but in mine, it does And I like to mix stuff intentionally sometimes, or put art intentionally low, or off My husband likes symmetry so all the issue of art placement-whatever takes normal folks 15 minutes can take us several hours. ok I stop myself here because I'm not even sure I'm answering the question lol but yes it's a fun thread, and I'm grateful you opened it Friday (I don't even know what's my favorite day of the week is, anymore. Probably Friday too..Used to be Saturday)

I go to my local, independent eyewear shop because through all my many ups and downs with my eyes-- they have stuck with me and provided great service. They have helped me find a comfortable range for glasses to support my needs-- for the average person, I am sure this sounds like "nothing" but I couldn't see clearly to be able to lead a meeting where I needed to look around the conf table, see the projected screen AND see my laptop screen or notes on the table. After a few false starts they got me in a pair of Shimera Office lenses which allow me to optimize my vision in a range from 1-about 14 ft. We were just talking about the fact that Shimera is now considered "old".. but the other lenses I've tried that are newer (and MUCH more expensive) didn't work for me as well. They also worked with the lab to be able to produce my tricky prescription -- as I have curves for an extreme astigmatism, prisms and progressives. I love them and am indebted to them -- they've hung with me through all the transitions from the beginning through some trial and error with lens corrects through 2 surgeries. They do have a great selection of unique frames-- but they're limited. Many of them are one offs-- so unlike warby parker or any of your mall stores, they don't carry hundreds of frames in any one style. I like this-- because I don't walk around town seeing MY frames on other people. That may be silly but it's how I think! ;) I have a VERY narrow bridge also-- but a huge head/face. Because I have such a complicated prescription and such an extreme astigmatism, my vision will go to crap if the glasses move on my face. Part of my frames selection process is on appearance-- and part is on fit on my bridge. While both of my frames are categorized as "cat eye"-- I don't think either are what we might think of as cat eye. They're oval and do turn up ever so slightly but their not exaggerated at all. I really like the La Font Madame above-- I'll have to see if they have a pair in stock. Like you all have mentioned, I find that there are certain lines that fit me best. I really wanted to go with a few lines I liked quite a bit-- tom ford and prada, for instance-- they just didn't fit me as well. Tiffany fit me very well but I didn't care for any of their new styles. Gucci fit well but in the end, I chose two other lines. Ive worn glasses all my life so for me, I like to view them as accessories-- necessary but still accessories. I think I ended up getting two pairs because I wanted something that made a strong statement and then also something that was more traditional and expected. I don't have a delicate face or delicate features so I think something bold works well for me.. but of course, I don't always want to be so bold... hence the more traditional/expected frames. I WISH I could look at how they appear 10 feet away but that's just not happening! LOL. In fact, I narrow down the list by looking at them a few feet away and then I choose by sitting down and looking at them close up. I may end up being one of those women who think they look better than they do-- but I suspect that's the case with my whole look and not just my glasses! ha.
