Does anyone know where I can get a car magnet that says "I Have A Son In Heaven"? My hair dresser was given one because her son died last fall. She told me about it yesterday, but can't remember where the lady got it. She knew that I would like one, since I also lost a son. It's my understanding that they have them for daughter's, mother's, father's etc. I am serching the internet but so far have not come up with anything. They are in the shape of a crossed ribbon and have a halo and wings on them. Vique.

Actually many of the old roses are quite bad for black spot-- most of the long-caned Bourbons and Hybrid Perpetuals are as bad as, or worse than, the average Hybrid Tea. As soon as people started selecting seedlings for better or more unusual flowers, rather than self-sufficiency, disease resistance declined. Modern breeders do pay some attention to disease resistance, but major American breeders are basically selecting roses for the California climate. Or, David Austin Sr. admitted that quality of bloom and growth habit took precedence over disease resistance. Some of his are not so bad, though, and there is a trend of improvement in the disease resistance of Austin''s releases. Many of the shrub roses bred by Kordes and Meilland in Europe have good resistance, as do some of the Griffith Buck roses, John Clements roses, and Ag Canada releases. In your climate you should consider the old Alba and Gallica roses and old rambers, which are easy to grow and make a tremendous show in the long first flush, which fills a good part of your growing season.

I agree with embees suggestion. There's also a material called Gatorboard that has the same styrofoam filling, but it's stiff as...a board. : ) Like a very lightweight, sturdy, smooth piece of plywood. You might try calling some art supply stores, if you can't find it at HD. It's inexpensive and also comes with a black filling. I've never cut it by hand (foamcore can be cut with a straight edge and several swipes of an Xacto blade), not sure if Gatorboard requires a saw, or what. Foamcore comes in sheets of 32" x 40", altho some stores cut it in half and sell it at 32" x 20". I've mounted many posters on foamcore and I suggest that when you start using the spray mount, be sure to do so in an open area on some newspapers. The spray settles around and can make nearby things sticky. Sounds like you have a neat collection and that's a cool idea for a display! I also have a magnet collection that I picked up on travels and right now they're all in a shoebox. Hmm.

I’m not familiar with the magnetic but we do have the retractable. The track needs to be keep free of debris and the user needs to be exacting to operate (so little kids and anyone with mobility issues would probably have issues with it). We have teens in our house so it works for us. But if I would do it again I’d try harder for a nice modern simple screen door. I’ll also add that if you entertain a lot the retractable can be an issue with people not familiar with it. It can get jammed up pretty easily (usually easily fixed as well - so far). Hopefully you will get someone to answer about the magnetic option.

Please understand the differences in "stainless steel" that allow magnetic susceptibility. The SS that stays shiny and is usually easily cleaned has both chromium and nickel in it, and magnets won't stick to it. The SS that is fairly shiny but can develop staining from fingerprints and other chemicals has no chromium and will allow magnets to stick. It may resist staining if clear coated, but there have been reports here of coating failure. Otherwise, occasional cleaning with dilute phosphoric acid may be needed, with attendant safety protocols. (Coca cola might work after degreasing the surface.) Of course, there are various intermediate SS blends possible, as well as laminated SS over steel that might also be magnetic, although we have had here a recent case of rusting with such a design. Perhaps attaching a piece of painted steel to the door at an appropriate height with removable adhesive or double-sticky tape would allow magnets to be used and allow a wider selection of refrigerators to be considered. Periodically the attached piece could be raised to a comfortable height for the growing child. From a personal historical perspective, I would observe that children have been successfully raised without magnetic refrigerator devices, even when there were refrigerators with painted steel doors that could have functioned with magnets, as well as when there were "ice boxes" with wooden doors. Given the fingerprint problem that might result with a magnetically susceptible door surface, I would suggest going with a painted refrigerator.

I saw some of the others you mentioned (daughter, etc.) on e-bay, so if you cannot find them let me know and I'll see if I can find them again.

These may be available in some stores, but I don't know where.

I just have to know how you got that on e-bay. When I was looking, I googled, yahood and e-bayed and couldn't find anything like what I wanted. I used magnet, I used I have a son in heaven magnet, I used I have a son in heaven, I used car magnet, then I did the other ones and added car magnet, nothing. Every time I look at it, I will not only remember Brian, I will also remember the person who found the ribbon for me. Thanks again, Vique.

Over to the right of the magnet it shows the store name is Robie Foundation. Click that and it will take you to all the magnets they have.
