refresh web site

How can I refresh my website after I make changes to it? Seems I have a cache or something that makes it load faster. I have a lot of images and am trying to optimize them and upload back to website but the old images are still there.

Delete your Temporary Internet Files before you refresh and that should take care of it. In IE go to tools internet options to delete these files.

Even better, go to Tools, Internet Options, and on the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click on the Settings button, then choose the "Every visit to the page" option.

You will now always see a new page when refreshing or visiting -- nothing in cache.

JoJo

Danial I have read all these posts on this thread a couple of times and I have yet to find anyone knocking this site. Its just a pain in the butt when you get on in the morning before work with the 15 mins. that i have to check the pepper forums and this one brings up a big beige window with nothing on it not even a skip button so I have to go on the ones that do not do that. And I never said that I would not go on this site , I just meant that I feel his pain. And you are all right this site here is definetly the most informative. Also I do not get a lot of ads i just get two every time I come here. Dale

I agree with Joe; the extraordinarily good info and wonderful people here make every other website I've looked at seem boring; besides, the info in other places often tends to be redundant or (more troubling) wrong! (Even the much-loved Worms Eat My Garbage book has a fair amount of somewhat misleading info in it.) Reading this website regularly not only answers all your questions, but demonstrates quite decisively that there are lots and lots of perfectly successful ways to pursue this fun hobby; that so long as the basics are met, the details are quite flexible; and that you can tweak your set up to enhance your own personal goals from the system (whether it's worm breeding, compost-producing, waste recycling, or a combination of all three). And the absolute absence of flamers is so refreshing! We couldn't even get a good fight going over the dog poop issue! That said, I have found the photographs in other websites useful; especially since Cass stopped posting her pictures (where did you go, Cass?) we've had kind of a dearth of good close-ups, and they can be very helpful. Maybe we should try to start a Photo Gallery?

This happened to my spouse back in mid-Sept 2018. He tried phoning in several times but altho they said they fixed it, it was never cleared up and he just could not log-in. Turned out the absolute easiest, fastest way to solve this way to GO IN to the SS office. He went first thing in the morning and somehow there was only 1 person in front of him. He was all prepared for a hours'-long experience but instead was in/out in less than 20 min! He said they fixed it in 10 minutes, told him he would receive a new temp password in the mail within 10 days. He received it, logged in and everything was fine.

I'm thinking people are leaving. I thought over the winter things were slow but expected them to pick up come April. I'm not seeing much more activity even into May. The Rose forum is pretty busy most of the time, despite the site. I'm usually looking at Perennials or Vegetables. I wonder if there is a way to move GARDENWEB somewhere and start over?

I have done that but the images stay the same.

This is what I have done

1. Went to Tools Options and deleted every thing that looked like I could. Cookies - temp files ect

2. Went to my host and even deleted some image files - But they are still there

I am wondering if my host server has a cache that is holding my old images?

Thanks for what ever help you can.

Oh - Some times a few days later I have noticed from before the will change.

Did you set your browser to reload on "every visit to the page" (as I mentioned above)?

If it's an IE cache problem, holding down CTRL while hitting refresh will force a reload of the page. I think Netscape uses SHIFT refresh, but it's been a while and I can't remember off-hand.

Also, make sure the date and time (and time zone!) on your computer is set correctly. If your date is wrong, then when the browser looks at the last updated date for various requests, it may not think that the content has been updated if your clock is wrong...
