If you are OK with the possibility of staining and etching (and the MAINTENANCE) throughout the house, then go for it. I personally wouldn't want to worry if someone spilled a margarita and etched it, or tracked in sand and scratched it, or if the "overspray" from they boys pitted it.

If you want less issues and less maintenance, try Crossville's Crema Marfil porcelain look alike. We used it in one of our bath vignettes, and you really cannot tell the difference between it and the real thing.

I went to a local tile shop that carries Crossville porcelain to check it out this weekend but the salesperson was not sure which specific color would be considered Crema Marfil and the store did not have samples of the styles we thought it might be, based on the brochure pics. Part of the problem is that I currently live in Western NY but my project is in FL so the typical tile types and colors used up here are quite different from what is used in FL.

I really like the idea of using real stone, rather than porcelain, but I know logically that the porcelain will be much easier to maintain and will cost a lot less - particularly since we have 2500 sq ft to cover!
