help with in-wall wiring question

Hi there. We are putting a Panasonic LCD screen on a far wall between 2 floor to ceiling windows. The cable box and PS3 will go on the opposite wall on an open cabinet shelf.

The walls and ceiling are currently open. This is new construction, and I'd like the wiring in-wall.

The distance from the back of the TV set to the back of the boxes is 25 feet. There are 2 right angle turns, one from the wall to cross the ceiling, and one from the ceiling to go down the opposite wall. The runs are 6 feet up, 13 feet across, and 6 feet down.

The Panasonic LCD has 2 HDMI inputs, but I've read that HDMI isn't a good choice where there isn't a straight run.

What connections (brand/type/etc.)do you recommend? I've researched myself silly on this question.

Install a 1.5" conduit, or larger. There are so many possible problems, solutions and future unknowns that this is the best way to insure that you can deal with hopefully all of them. There are higher quality cables, cables with amplifiers, extenders, etc.

Conduit will give you the flexibilty to future-proof.

HDMI will be fine, but put sweeps in the conduit run instead of hard 90's.

HDMI, for runs of 25', you're looking at a 25' or a 30' cable. Realize that a 25' cable that's 4" short does you not much good.

You can attack this on one of two ways...If you;ll only be feeding the TV from the cable box and the PS3, then you can run two HDMI cables through the conduit, one for the cable, one for the PS3. OR you can run one HDMI cable and use an HDMI switch to feed either cable or the PS3 signal through the cable to the display.

What about DVD? That will give you a third possible feed. You can drive yourself silly with the options...one HDMI cable that's fed the cable/PS3/DVD signal through a 3-way switch, or one HDMI dedicated to the PS3 and the other for the switched cable/DVD?

Your display may allow you to independently program/calibrate picture settings for each of the two HDMI ports. That may sway you one way or another.

As for the HDMI cable, for 25-30'. I'd think a good 24AWG tin- or silver-plated copper cable would do you fine. 22AWG may be too stiff to get through the conduit. 26AWG may be a bit small for 30'. Not sure though. Good HDMI cables at decent prices can be had through BlueJeanCable or through Monoprice.com.

If you end up getting an HDMI switch box, if it's not a simple push-button mechanical switch, make sure it's HDCP compliant if you'll eventually go that route. You'll need your display, your cable box, and your DVD player to be HDCP as well.

I know BlueJean's better cables are UL-rated to be buried in walls. Ask if you buy from somehwere else.

Integrating unmatched systems with different circuit boards and especially two transformer systems is never easy. Sorry to say, not knowing more about the whole system including how the heat pump changeover and controls operate, I doubt you will get an answer on this. Based on my past experience on instances like this, it would take all the wiring diagrams of all the components, a lot of scratch paper and an hour to figure it out to assure everything integrates and nothing burns out before making the connections. In addition, sometimes without fossil fuel kits, additional sensors are involved. "C" is a common, many times for the stat to power lights, indicators, screens, power unit so that the batteries are back-up only and on occasion operate additional accessories, including the remote if you have that option.

The newer Dryers use a 4 prong outlet & plug. If it's a 4 prong outlet, it should have a 4 prong plug with 4 wires... Ther dryer could possibly work with 3 wires, but wouldn't be up to electrical codes. Get a different electrician.

Have the electrician come back out and check for proper voltage and connection. If the unit does not operated correctly after a professional installation, the installer should be the first person contacted. That being said, it sound as if you are only getting the 120V portion of the 120/240V required. Don't know what you mean by "It's connected to a 20/30am fuse at the breaker", but if there are two fuses, one may be blown.

You need three new wires. It's called THHN/THWN. It will probably be stranded which is fine.
