Cyst, Abscess or Boil?

My daughter-in-law has something on her stomach that looks like an open hole. It is very small and is perfectly round.

It has drained some blood but otherwise doesn't bother her.

Anyone have any idea if this could be a cyst, an abscess, a boil or what?

The only person who is qualified to answer that is a physician who can do a hands-on exam ... and if I had a hole in my abdomen that was draining blood, I'd see a doctor as fast as possible.

She had one of these before and it cleared up in the same area. I'm trying to encourage her to go to the doctor.

@lynnewithhim - I have used the berries and heard to start with 1 berry twice a day (2X), then 2 berries 2X etc until you find your personal level. I swallowed them whole (fresh or dried - whichever way I found them). I tried squishing a few seeds with a spoon and they are tough to break! Max dose depends on person (in the above pasted Corrine Wood article, it says up to 25 berries & max dose is when you start getting "spacy", Stephen Buhner indicates 5-10 drops 2X of root tincture for swollen lymph nodes) I've also heard (can't find where right off hand) that 1 berry, fresh or dried, is equivalent to 1 drop of root tincture so I started with berries while tincture is "brewing". I did feel like I had mental/thyroid fog at 6 berries 2X so I will be keeping below 5 berries or 5 drops 2X and I gave myself a rest after 10 days. It definitely helped a swollen lymph gland I've had for months plus it helps the random musical chair joint pains/arthritis I have from chronic Lyme. Regarding the poison aspect: I agree poke should be researched, but I am treating it like I do any OTC - eg: NSAIDS can also cause problems. I personally find fewer side effects with botanicals. NSAIDS did nothing for my aches and only upset my stomach. The statistics of side effects with correctly prescribed & correctly taken drugs seem a worse risk than poke, imo.

Well, sometimes you just do what you gotta do for the holidays and when you look back on it years later, you'll just laugh and have good memories anyway. But first, you have to get everyone healthy and feeling better. A few Christmases ago my mother was sleeping with my DS on Christmas Eve and came to get me about 2am because DS was crying with abdonimal pain and had a high fever. His temp was 104. We ended up in the ER most of the night (turned out it was just a viral something) and the next morning he was too tired and felt too bad to even see what Santa had brought. Two years ago, DS had stomach virus around Dec. 22 and threw up all over the house in the middle of the night while sleep walking without waking me up. That was a real treat when I finally heard him. I had to find a carpet cleaning company on Dec. 23 to clean my whole house. We had great plans for Christmas this year, but they all fell apart this past week. DH was just assigned to work on Christmas Eve and has to go to work on Christmas Day at 7am for 24 straight hours. My MIL is spending Christmas with my SIL, and my mom called yesterday to tell me that she has pneumonia and her doctor wants to put her in the hospital, so I cancelled her flight out here. So, I guess Christmas this year will just be me and my two children quietly at home. We don't plan to even get dressed that day.

Speaking of number 9, peroxide draws out blood and infection. Holding on abscessed tooth area for a little longer, maybe 15-20 mins three times a day, will drain the infection from it. Awful in your mouth and constant spitting it out, but better than nothing until you can get to a dentist. That's really true, unlike the holding an aspirin on a toothache myth. The infection, itself, is what causes the pain. I knew OxyClean is peroxide but never thought to clean glass and mirrors with it.

Les, I love my dentist too. He is a wonderful guy and he babies me because he knows I'm so phobic. My hands sweat as soon as I walk thru the office door, even for a routine cleaning. I am such a rational person in every other area of life, but I am wreck about the dentist. I have had one root canal and you're right, it wasn't any worse than having a regular crown done. For anything other than a regular cavity (which I haven't had in years -- but now I seem to be replacing old, large cavities with crowns about once every couple of years) my dentist now gives me Conscious Sedation, which is the best thing that's ever happened to me! I highly recommend it! If I didn't have it, they wouldn't be able to get me into the office. I take an anti-anxiety drug (forget the name now) an hour before my appointment, and by the time it's time to go in, DH practically has to carry me, I'm so out of it. Then I have regular novocaine and after the procedure is over, I barely remember a thing. It unfortunately "loses" a day for both DH and me, because he has to stay with me when I get home (so I don't do anything stupid in my drugged state) and I usually have to take a nap when I get home... but that's what we have to do. Fortunately my teeth aren't SO bad that this has to happen too often! I told my dentist once that I would rather give birth than have a cavity filled!

Okay odd question...is it on a stretch mark? I have rather large stretch marks from my son (18 years ago, you'd think they'd go away, no way), anyway I sometimes get those, they aren't "holes" but look like a boil or large pimple. Dr said that since the skin in thin there due to the stretch mark, I get a tear in the 2nd and 3rd layer of skin (from them too being stretched. Top layer is thicker scar tissue, so it doesn't break through. Did that make sense? He said not to worry...but that is a Dr. telling me not to worry after he's examined it. Daughter should do the same.

It doesn't really matter which it is, it needs to be seen by a doctor. Anytime that there is an abnormal opening that is draining, there is a chance of a serious infection developing.

Convince her that she really doesn't want that to happen. The sooner it's attended to, the better.

No, it's not on a stretch mark and she did go to the dermatologist. They numbed it and are doing a biopsy. Will post the results when they come back in.

My daughter had one on her leg, it would get infected occasionally and yucky yellowish stuff would come out. I finally convinced her to go to a doctor (when she was like 13) and the doctor did surgery in his office and closed it up. No problems.

I think these are inherited, I have one on my ear and my mom has some near her left ear.
