Hyn That ginger looks fantastic. Its so weird, mine was growing and failed again. Not sure whats wrong. It'll sprout roots, send up a shoot and then die. Strange.guess its too late to re-start for the ... 4th time. But on the other hand, I'm doing super with the turmeric and its my first time. Here's 2 sets started, large ones are 6 weeks and smaller ones are 4 weeks. When I switched pots I already saw the roots getting fat, but I do want to leave one pot designated to get flowers cause they look so beautiful.

I don't know how you ever thought of this but I don't like the sound of it. You can make a cup of turmeric 'tea' -- 1/2 tsp turmeric in hot water. Drink that if you want something for health. Or add it to your rice -- it will be a pretty golden colour. Do things like that. Otherwise, if you really want to do put it in coffee, talk to a dietician or somebody who has the science.

I have several curcuma and globba gingers in pots due to armadillas digging stuff up. They like to eat my ginger bulbs. Anyhow, rihjt before our first freeze, I let the pots totally dry out and when the foliage dries up I clip it off and put the pots in a shed over the winter. It stays above freezing in the shed although Curcuma and Globbas can take some freezing temps. In late April, I take the pots out of the shed and set them in semi shade and water them. Pretty soon they start leafing out. You must just water them a little until they leaf out. You dont want the pots soggy or they will rot. Been doing it this way for about 5 years now :)

I think I found it. I must have gone out and bought some after the sample worked so well. The tube doesn't look familiar, but could easily be different from the way the sample tube looked. It's meant as a dishwasher additive to be used in conjunction with regular dishwashing detergent. The active ingredient listed is Benzoyl Peroxide. I know from unfortunate experience that Benzoyl Peroxide takes color out of lots of things. "Cascade Plastic booster. Plastic cleaning additive. Use regularly to: - Removes red stains and odors" Though turmeric isn't red, I would think this would work on other stains as well.
