slipping dentures

Just found the best denture cream.Holds all day.Fixodent with the controled top.No waste and you use much lest.It cost a little more but it last longer.Where I was using a tube and a half a month this last for over two months.If you go to their website you can get a coupon worth 75 cents.No I don't work for Fixodent just thought I would pass it on.

thank you so much for the dentual information.i am only 42 -43 april 23 and i had to get top dentual.i cry day and nite.i feel so so old,i hate them,and don't see me affording 8000 for a few implants and a partial.but the plastic roof is what i hate mainly.but i go back monday for a dr with dentist and a adjustment.when she pulled my teeth and place my false ones in ,she left for a vacation and i have not had any adjustments.but i do not beleive any adjustments can be made for me to say OH I am so glad I got this plastic roof,so thanks for the heads up on something to keep them from falling out,does it hardens when you put it in or what.i am new to this stuff,please help granny here.thanks judy

Ok not a winter story so doesn't count, but cute and I had to share. Jordan (age 4) was sleeping over Sunday night and grandpa asked her to go get his cup from the bathroom. Grandpa proceeded to take out his teeth and put them in the cup. Jordan had never seen him do this before and had to look in his mouth. She had to look for quite some time to figure out what just happened. She then looked in his cup and said, "Wow Grandpa! The tooth fairy is going to bring you lots of money!!!" Grandpa just laughed and said big people don't get money from the tooth fairy...after much explaining, grandpa finally just agreed that he would get lots of money...there is no reasoning with a 4 year old who believes :) Later at night I hear my husband yell, "what the h---! Turn on the light". What I ask groggy??? He yells "TURN ON THE LIGHT, TURN ON THE LIGHT"! I crack my head on the nightstand as I reach over to turn on the light fearing something really bad just happened. Once the light was on my husband flips over his pillow and there sits his dentures!!! I laughed so hard I forgot about the growing lump on my head. I guess Jordan was going to make sure grandpa got rich that night...Happy Holidays everyone. Kim

I've been dealing with Mum's desire to "reclaim" her former independence, too, Scotland! It's been really tough for me. We went to my favorite aunt's funeral a couple of weeks ago. Mum is the last one of her age group standing. She enjoyed seeing her neices and nephews and people who were part of her circle. The visit to her home, however, brought on all sorts of "issues" I've been dreading. Her complete lack of planning for the dissolution of her estate was very clear to her. (In fact, she was stubbornly unwilling to address ANY of those important issues before her cancer was diagnosed!). She was all jazzed up to "sell things"; her way of trying to mop up the mess she left for my brother and me. "Those are really quite valuable, you know", "I have someone in mind for that table over there..." (the "someone" wasn't my brother or me and the table in question was the dining room table! and the silverware she was so hot to "sell" was our paternal grandmother's set). My brother coolly asked her how she was going to go about "selling things"; "I'll have a yard sale". "How are you going to organize it from 70 miles away?" "I'll have to come up here and stay for a few days". Of course she can't do that. She can't cook for herself, remember her pills or take care of her urostomy by herself... she wasn't really capable of really grasping the extent of her inability to be self-sufficient. It was wrenching to watch. But we were brutally honest with her about what was going to happen to things. She was told, unequivocally, that her unwillingness to get it done when she was able meant that WE would take care of it now. She would participate, but she would NOT be "in charge". My brother and I have spent the past 2 years getting her estate in order; isolating valuable assets and establishing powers of attorney for both legal and medical situations. It hasn't been easy, let me tell you! Painful though it may have been for her, she has to know that she's "off the case"... she dilly-dalleyed too long and neither my brother nor I have the time or inclination to be pulled through a knothole because she was unwilling to "take care of details". PERIOD. I thought I was going to lose my mind the weekend of the funeral. My brother, more removed from her daily care than I am, offered some excellent ways to "deal with her". It's helped immeasurably and I'm looking forward to another 2-3 weeks "off" while she stays with him. It's hard. I sympathize, and can offer little more than my own stories... hang in there.

Actually, they are useful for so much more than protecting against scratches (which I don't care about anyway): Water doesn't backup into the colander when draining pasta When I rinse down the sink, items in the sink no longer block the drain or block the "path" to the drain so I don't have to "chase" specks of food, etc. around the sink! There is less scratching of the bottom of the sink (this is minor to me since I don't mind the scratches) When I dump something in the sink, whatever I've dumped doesn't wash all over everything sitting in the sink....whatever is dumped goes straight down the drain I can rinse and drain dishes on the grid and still run water in the sink w/o running it all over the items again Things lay flat on the grid (no slope like in the bottom of a sink bowl and items in my sink no longer slip down the slope and cover/block the drain) If I'm handwashing dishes, I can use the grid tines to hold things up, especially plates & bowls (similar to a dish drainer) and dishes air dry faster b/c air circulates all around them If your sink is too deep for you on a daily basis, the grid will raise the bottom of the sink an inch or so Less need to clean/wipe the bowl b/c things aren't as likely to "stick" The stainless steel ones in my cleanup sink also act as a trivet for hot things (when the sink is clear, of course!) -- I needed a large "trivet" once and used one of the grids from the sink, it worked great!

Any more offers? 1. If you like to save margarine or other plastic containers with lids to store things, here's a handy storage for the lids, which tend ordinarily to slide all over and make a mess. We get our milk in square boxes, just under 3" square, about 9" high, with top folded like a roof, squeezing open part of the roof to pour it. I pull open the rest of the roof, measure the width of the largest lid that you want to store up from the bottom, then cut from there down the middle of one side of the box, then fold each cut side down and staple. Then cut down each corner of the box to just a bit above the space needed, then fold the four sides over one another, cutting off extra material if there is any, and staple. To make the sides a bit stiffer, after you cut down the side of the box, slip a yardstick at the fold of each of the flaps and fold the flap down over the yardstick, to make an edge about 1/16 - 1/8" just before the flap turns down. If you do that, it helps if you lay the box on a board just wide enough to fill the hole in the side of the box and staple into it from the outside, rather than using the bottom of the stapler, which will push down the folded edge of the wall that you want to make. That will hold your lids in one place, in order, on edge, taking up only a small space in the cupboard, drawer, etc. 1a. Cut to a different length, they make handy storage containers for letters, as well. Slip two together, top to top, then staple to make a box for business-sized envelopes. You'll soon learn that you'd like to use the fold-over-the-yardstick system for the outside one of them, to make the sliding easier and to add strength to the sides, even though there may be two of them for most of the distance, I think. 2. Use frozen orange, etc. juice containers when empty to hold pens, pencils, etc. on your desk. I use them to hold nuts, candy, etc., as well ... but have had some trouble with Indian grain moths, whose larvae love nuts, cookies, etc. and whole wheat (but not white) flour. We have individual yogurt containers with sloping sides that fit just nicely into the tops of those juice containers, to foil the larvae and the webs that they spin (in addition to the residue from their behind that they leave behind). I can leave the various processed breakfast cereals out in a dish on the table for a week and those critters won't touch them - smarter than we are, I guess. ole joyful

You just place a little paste and bite down.You are good to go for a whole day.Now if you are going out to dinner you might do it again for safe keeping if you have had the original paste in all day.It's part of getting older .You will adjust.You have plenty of company not everyone can afford transplants.Mined you you will glue your whole mouth shut if you use too much.

thanks goldy for your help.i hope the stuff works so i can go out with my dear hubby next weekend for my b;day in which i will turn 43.do i put the stuff all over or just in the front of the top teeth and do i put it on my gum or teeth?I am new to this,so please noone laugh at my questions.lol..all i need is for my false teeth to fall out at dinner.my friend said she was in church singing a special and her teeth shot out of her mouth and it landed in a man's lap,she said she stop,grab those teeth,and to the bathroom she ran and stayed till her son came and said the services is over and all is gone but the preacher.she said she was so so embrassed and she has not yet got over it.thanks for any suggestions for a young southern girl here that has falsies.,...judy

I hated my top denture too and about 9 mo. ago my dentist put in titan post and was able to shave most the roof part off.
I love them now and I can bite into anything! It cost me about $2,000 but well with it to me. I have allergies so bad that the roof of my mouth swells up and would make the plate almost lay on the back of my tongue and when I would cough I would gag and ened up throwing up all the time!!! I was one of the first 5 to have them put in.
One great invention for me!

Berk, This is really great news. One can get rid of the roof part by using titan post. Cool. I also wanted to mention that I found a plan that says will save you 60% on dentures and 25% on titan post or implants. I found it here: denture4less.com
