Allow me to throw the first snowball. Are you using Gamborg's medium without MS salts and sucrose? I have a recipe for Nephrolepsis media that includes 1/2 MS salts, 20g/L sucrose, 0.1 mg/L of NAA and 1.0 mg/L of Kinetin. If you are using all of these you might try different concentrations of hormones to find one that works best for the species you are trying to grow.

Hi, Paul here from Calgary Alberta Canada. I have a Bosch dishwasher that requires salt. Less expensive water softening salt is great, and it works. Your Miele should be fine. RISK.. Money, I don't understand those who have posted their thoughts asking why you would risk your machine to save money on Salt. Spending money on a product due to the Brand Name is foolish and something as minute as the water softener is not going to damage the machine. Bosch strongly suggests Finish for the soap and it works for sure but the machine will not shut down if you happen to use a different soap, it may not clean as well.

I cook with Kosher salt and high-mineral Celtic sea salt. I've used sea salt for over 30 years - I didn't like the taste of iodized table salt. I also add kelp to my garden and toss it into things I bake/cook. I use other kinds of seaweed, like Nori, for the added minerals. I learned this stuff when I tried Macrobiotics years ago. As far as Campbells Soup goes, it's all about perception...and marketing. It's just like all the so-called "organic" stuff that is everywhere now - not just the health food store anymore. The food industry thought they should get in on that market share - not just the three of us "health nuts" already buying from the food coops and health food stores. -Grainlady

Any meal can be made without salt except for baking cookies and cakes, etc that call for salt to be used. I rarely use salt in my cooking and chose to use herbs, spices and lemon. Don't use any prepackaged foods, canned soups or coating mixes and you should do okay. Put the salt shaker on the table for those that want to add salt to their food after cooking. Roast a chicken, stuff lemon and garlic in the cavity and baste with unsalted butter. Fresh berries with whipped cream for dessert. I am making shortbread cookies tonight using unsalted butter. Quick and easy to make. 1/2 cup corn starch 1/2 cup icing sugar 1 cup all purpose flour 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened Preheat Oven to 300F Baking time 15-20 minutes or until edges are lightly browned Sift together dry ingredients. Blend in butter until dough forms. Chill dough for approx. 30 minutes if too soft to work with. Roll dough into 1" balls and place 1 1/2" apart on cookie sheet. Flatten with floured fork. I decorate with coarse sugar, glace cherries or walnuts but you don't have to. Anne
