Is it possible what you're finding as a lump could be the little ducks craw? This is at the front of the neck above the breast bone and can become as large a a walnut in this age duckling. The pinkness you're seeing may also be the skin with the down thinning due to the stretch. The craw is where food is stored until it's digested. It's a very good idea to provide something in the form of gravel, sand, this helps grind the food in the craw. For very young chicks and ducks I used parakeet gravel. A few good pinches when ever I freshen the food. This might not be on target but a full craw on a small duck can very well look like a swelling. The swelling should be less promient the first thing before morning feeding. And will increase in size as the day goes on.. Hope will Beacon grows to be a big guy/girl. So cute.

dpinker1, If you are going to go to a chiropractor,make sure you go to one that has been taught by a school that has a long history of chiropractic teaching and technique. Make sure they have been taught the "Gonstead" way.This of course is my own opinion,but I have good reason to say this. When my sister was 6, she was continually getting urinary tract infections. She went to the Childerns hospital over here and they took an Xray to see what was going on.they disovered that a valve had not developed and the urin would flow the wrong way,and thus cause the infection. They said there was a new operation that would fix this problem,but it was experimental,but that it was having success so they should seriously consider having this done. My Mum is a nurse and had seen the results of these types of operations and didnt want it done,but they said they would come back in 6 months because they wanted to try something else.Needless to say the surgens were not to pleased but were confident my parents would be back for the operation. My Grandfather was seeing a Chiroprator who used the Gonstead method,and in idle chatter to the Chiro,he mentioned his grand-daughter's problem. The Chiropractor said that sometimes these problems can be linked to the spine being out of alignment,which crushes the nerves which dont allow the organs to fully develop.In this case the under-developed valve. So he told my mum and my sister was taken to see him.He examined her and said this was the problem and would need the 6 months to get things the way they should be. After this period,my parents went back to the childerns hospital,they took new Xrays and the surgen couldnt believe that it was my sister that the Xrays that my parents had with them were of my sister.The valve was fully developed ! This was 30 years ago when doctors hated Chiropractors,and they refused to accept what my parents had said. Well it didnt matter as my sister didnt get another infection after being treated. I had a hard birth as well with one leg being 25mm longer than the other.This at the age of 10 years.He fixed that as well.I was in a really serious car accident and he was able to get to me early and save me a lot of problems that would have developed because of serious neck injuries. I have been to other Chiro's that have not had this training and some have been plain butchers,so if you want to have safe treatment,do a google search and find yourself a Gonstead trained Chiro...it will save you possibly being hurt or not getting proper treatment.

After reading these posts I decided the Free Country jacket/coat may work for me. I had bought a new coat from Penney's last fall since my 13-year-old doubled fleece hoody; and my 15-year-old -40 rated parka could use some help between the two extremes. I went to Kohl's to check out the Free Country coats. The selection was picked over, but I then realized I was wearing my new coat - and it was a Free Country, size 2X. The one I got at Penney's back in October. Did I feel silly or what? I am 5'1" and very plump. This coat is a normal length 2X; so it comes below mid-thigh on me - and I love the length. It has a full, wide hood (not removable) that can easily cover a hat or cap along with my XL brain box! :) The coat is reversible, water resistant on one side, and fuzzy fleece on the other. There are two roomy pockets on each side plus a zippered chest pocket on the slick side. This description is from Penney's web site, and the coat is now $20 less than what I paid for mine. You don't have to snap it all the way up. There soft fleece inside and you can leave the neck opening as small or large as you wish. ... Thank you everyone for taking the time to give me your advise. Last night I continued with pedialyte and he ate some more. This morning his appetite seems to be getting better. He's still somewhat lethargic and still limping noticeably but less than yesterday. He's eating canned food, but noticed his gums are somewhat pale, is that normal? He's still getting pain medicine and his wound isn't swollen . It seems like he's getting better but just worried about his gums.
