Unexpected

Hello,

I lost my dad March 2, 2009. My dad stayed home from work that day due to a snowstorm. I took my mom to work and I also worked that day. When we got home the snowblower was running in the driveway and I brushed some snow off my car. I went onto the porch and heard my mom yell inside, I went into the kitchen and saw my dad laying on the floor, it was too late!!! He was only 58 and wasn't ill. He loved the outdoors,hunting,fishing and gardening. He would always say "You'll miss me when I'm not around" when we would get after him. He was right again, I just wish we could have spent many more years together!!! We Miss You!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss. My mom died in her sleep on November 25, 2008 and it was compleately out of the blue. Its been almost 5 months and I just don't know what to do without her. The only advise that I can give you is to pray and ask God to just carry your load and that of your family. I think somedays its the only thing that can get me through another day. I will pray for you. I hope we both have brighter days again someday.

I had a couple other losses, too: "Fama Blue" scabiosa and willow-leaf sunflower. Both probably just moved too many times. No big loss over the sunflower, but I wish I hadn't lost the "Fama Blue" -- I really love it's flowers, nothing like the short, stubby ones so widely available now. There's one place that I may be able to find a replacement plant, but if not I'll have to go the seed route. Also lost campanula glomerata, 3 of them. I really liked these but when I re-arranged the beds last fall I had trouble re-locating them and just stuck them in place without much design thought. I was tempted to pick up a replacement but decided against it for the same reason - where to put it? But, it's definitely one I'd buy again if I had a good place to put it. Add shasta daisy "Spun Silk" to the list of losses, too. I had two plants; both survived but one was so puny I decided to toss it, I just didn't foresee it doing well. The other looks great. She's a beauty, too -- glad at least one survived.

So happy to read the updates. Fwiw, when we adopted Wally at approx 4 months, he would throw up all the time in the car. .. We did get one of those cover/slings so it wiped up easily. Anyway, he really outgrew car sickness. DH takes him daily for walks on trails and drives to them. It's gotten so that he is so fine in the car we can take him for the walks and then stop off to do shopping on the way back ( obviously when it's not severe weather) and he is 100% happy and fine to chill in the car. I think he thinks it's his sofa time. Hopefully Jumper outgrows it...

This looks like good advice for landscape professionals if they are trying to ready a deck or patio with lots of roses in pots for a wedding, or other kind of party, and they have lots of time. Not something that looks at all dooable for a rose growing in the dirt in a garden. I do have a few roses in large pots, but those canes would break if I tried to bend them over that far.
