I'm not a grandmother yet, but my own mother was in many ways in your same position. She spend every weekend with my kids when they were little, either at her house or mine, and she later moved very close to us. You aren't being ridiculous at all, it seems to me what you're feeling would be very normal. My mother felt the same way. But many kiddos do want to be at their own home or with their friends more as they get older, and that's a normal feeling for them. When my kids were in middle school there was an upswing in how much time my kids spent with their grandma. They'd get sick of me and stomp off to grandma's house to be told they were wonderful and perfect and get waited on hand and foot. My kids are nearly grown now - one about to graduate high school this school year and one about to graduate college - and they love my mom and visit her a lot. But it's not the same as the old days when they spent every weekend with her and would have spent more time if they could. My mom misses them, but she understands. She's so very glad she spent that time with them when they were little, the memories are precious to all of us. Enjoy those grandchildren. The years fly by way to fast, both for the parents and the grandparents. Your grandchildren are so blessed to have you.

The armpit has many glands in them.Since you are sick,they could simply be swollen like the other glands in your body are.Feel under your chin,any of that feel slightly swollen too? For me it is quite normal for alot of glands to swell when sick. If it doesnt go away after you are feeling better,then you may want to have it checked out.Does it hurt? Also,I dont know if you are male or female. Some women get glands in their breasts and armpits that retain fluid (fibro-cysts or something like that)they are harmless but can usually be a little uncomfortable. If it seems to grow,hurt worse,or not go away~have it checked out.

I think for every person who has this that it may be a different trigger. For me it is spicy food. It lasts for a couple hourse after I eat it. I jokingly call it "Taco Bell Syndrome" or just "Syndrome". A couple years ago my daughter (about 8 at the time) was clearing her throat a lot and I said "honey, are you coming down with a cold?" and she said, "No, I think it's just syndrome". I looked at her quizzically and she said "you know, like what you get after you eat at Taco Bell except mine happens after I drink orange juice". Okay, we do have another name for it which is not nearly as pleasant as syndrome, but it is descriptive and we sometimes call it "the gooks". My dad gets it after eating ice cream but swears no other dairy products cause a problem. The bottom line is it may be something that you are eating that may not bother anyone else but you. When it happens, try to remember what you just ate and see if you can find a pattern.

I have had "tonsil stones" for many years, but only discovered what they were a couple of years ago, thanks to the lovely people on this forum. I would often get a sore throat and then cough up one of those lovely "pearls" that stunk like YUCK! Then I discovered that I could avoid the sore throat if I got rid of them myself before they became too large. At first I used a tiny crochet hook to pull them out, but hooked my tonsil once and made it bleed. That scared me, so I stopped doing that. Then I found out that if I pushed next to those ugly white things in my tonsils (sort of like squeezing pimples) they would just pop out on their own. Finally, now that I am becoming an old lady, they have really slowed down. They smelled so horrible - I know that my breath must have been awful. By the way, I call them "pearls" because my understanding is that they are formed much the same way as pearls are. Some tiny speck gets in the pockets in the tonsils (a doctor told me that I have more and deeper pockets than average) and layers of yuck are formed around them.
