Thanks for all the replies. I went to a granite place yesterday to get a feel for what the extra cost might be. The person I spoke to said it would only be $100 extra per rounded cut. Awesome I thought! He did, however, give me quote for installing the vanity granite: Labor- $1,100 Material - $500-$600 depending on granite chosen And then if I wanted the rounded cuts add another $200. So, without the rounded cuts, around $1,600 installed for about 12 square feet of granite, or $133 per square foot. That seems like a lot for a vanity. I went to the Great Indoors a couple of months ago and briefly inquired what a ballpark figure would be to install granite on a vanity and they told me $65 per square foot installed with any granite. So, will have to do more research to hone in on what this might cost. Thanks again!

Sorry to hear you're not getting the results that you are looking for. It is hard to say if there is a problem with who you are dealing with or it is the limits of what is available to them. Box/chain stores can give you instant pricing. If that is your primary need then they are the best option. I think you got some less than accurate information, that is just not the case. Chain stores are connected to a central database at the chains IT headquarters-not the mfg. Independents are not hooked into the mfg pricing directly from 2020 nor any other database. They are left with the on board 2020 catalog supplied by the mfg which can vary in accuracy and quality. No 2020 catalog comes ready to provide retail pricing, only list price. Only 2020 operators at box stores are locked out of portions of the program or catalog. Independents are free to make mistakes, but then they are also free to design. For independents to get pricing the choices for pricing are: -are getting the mfg list price from 2020 (notoriously unreliable) and then doing the math to get sell at. OR -Looking it up in a price book (BTW inadvertently learned yesterday that Medallion no longer issues price books to dealers) then doing the math. Some dealerships require employees to price manually. OR -Use an online ordering system. Many brands (30-50% of them) have an on line ordering system available. I know of only 3 brands in which it is possible to export data from 2020 and then import it into that online pricing system. Still you must check it since you are responsible for the accuracy- not 2020, not the mfg. All other online systems require that the order be entered manually. None give you the "sell at" price, most can give you "cost". OR Some brands will help with pricing an order. This entails extra lead time, often more than a week. Dealer avoid overusing this sticking with order that are deposited, highly likely or extremely valuable. Can't wear out the welcome. None of that makes it impossible to get you pricing, it just doesn't allow it to be instant. It's the way it is. To complicate things, no one wants to give a customer a price that is higher than it should be and chase them away. Nor does anyone want to have to go back to a customer with a higher price than they first stated, makes people unhappy. Just like LWO I will not price major changes on the spot. So what is a customer to do? Just ask... ahead of time. What are my options? how can I cut costs? what would this cost versus that? Does it fit in my budget?...ahead of time. I regularly am pricing out assorted options for a client to evaluate. But I am doing it all at once when I am working on pricing the job as it stands. I often spend half or all of a day pricing. It is far more efficient to price variations at that time than to go back and reprice a job and it helps prevent mistakes.

Price difference between the two is minimal....and it's not an exact science. Moldings are the same price....as are some modifications and upcharges. If you take the price you paid, and multiply by .975 or .99 that should get you close to the difference. For instance, if you paid $10,000. Multiply X.975=$9750. $250 less. No, you can't paint Bella...it's a veneer and edgebanded door. The edges are so sharp, it would be difficult to paint AND would chip easier...so switching to Glenwood is the only way to go. Glenwood is a solid maple door so you can paint it.
