We too are going to make a H&M purchase too down in Hickory in another week and the H&M factory invited us to see the same chair before being shipped to another client so we could look it over and talk with the company. We have talked with them twice and I believe they are an excellent company. We were then going to make the purchase through Boyles. Also a Sherril sofa was our aim through Boyles. Any comment on this would be appreciated.

We made a trip to High Point in June, planning to buy 3-4 rooms of furniture at FLS.. long story short, got a bad saleperson, was very dissapointed in her AND their prices.. Went home and did quite a bit of reasearch online on where to buy. 3 places seemed to get overall very good reviews here on Garden Web(Elite, Lex & Duane Collie) We did find a Classic Leather(Edward) sofas @FLS that was perfect, we had wanted Hancock and Moore, but loved the wood trim on this and it was very comfortable for me who is short and DH who is tall.

Anyway I priced that sofa at 5 different places(FLS, Elite, Lex, 2Local)I called Duane, and I think he didn't carry the brand we wanted. We were ordering 2 sofas, and for these pieces Elite was significantly less than all the others, so I went with them. I have since ordered a bedroom set, desk, Ambella Vanity, and kitchen chairs & bar stools from Elite. I have recv'd my sofas, BR & desk. All came in perfect condition. Am still waiting on the rest, because one piece was back ordered and the rest I ordered much later.

Only slight negitive, my furniture was in for a few weeks before their delivery company had a big enough load coming up North, but on the positive side their delivery people WILL p/u pieces purchased from other stores.(Boyles & FLS will not) We had bought an Armiore from Adams in Highpoint, and they delivered that as well. My armoire came sligltly damaged and they wanted to take it back, but it was minor enough my husband fixed it himself.

I also bought a floor model DR set from Boyles(in June) very good service & delivery from them also.

Marcia, what is FLS? Which sales rep did you deal with at Elite? Will they accept a credit card for the deposit?

Organic B...you should get a price quote from Elite and Lexington - checked pricing with them a few years ago and they beat Boyles hands down! Just a suggestion.

Havea never heard of Duane Collie, but i haven't ordered furniture from NC in years.

Sorry-FLS is Furnitureland South, I bought a master BR set and DR set from them 8 years ago for my current house, and they had great prices, but not so anymore. Back then there were certainly fewer online distributers.. BUT what a great place to go through..in High Point, think over 1million Sq feet! took us 2 days our first trip.. seriously!

I went back and checked my facts and for the above 2 sofas, their price(FLS) would have been 21% more than I paid at Elite. My local 'discount' store 37%! more...(NOT a fancy store.. operates out of a large home... jeez. I have a local service business and would love to support local business, and would GLADLY pay a little more to do. If I could have ordered the same stuff for 200$ more locally I would have done so, but these price differences were significant!! I have been dealing with Cheryl at Elite, and she has been very helpful. They do accept credit cards. They take 1/2 upon order, then the balance when they give the furniture to the delivery company. I also went back and checked my records regarding the delivery. Elite charged my balance due on 9/18, and my furniture was delivered on Oct 14, almost a month. I thought this a little excessive, but I do understand with the way gas prices were then, they didn't want to leave with less than a full load. Because they were able to pick up that other very heavy piece, I actually saved another 150-200 in shipping charges, but all in all my shipping charges were 1200+.

Duane Collie is a person who I think owns a furniture store out east. I have never dealt with him personally, but have read many of his posts and used his advice. He has a very good reputation on these boards, and I think he knows a lot about Hancock and Moore. Just do a search for him in this forum. There was just a very recent post about him and there are always people asking for his help on something. He seems to be very honest in his answers..
