You need the plastic glass spacers to keep the glass safely on the base. Place a large enough plant or blown glass centerpiece on the table to divert your attention. As for your rug, any of the grey, orange, blue or white rugs could be successful options to work with your existing rug. All shown are from Overstock. Of course a solid rug is also a given. I love the coziness of your room and your colors. It is bright and looks very inviting. I just purchased a round coffee table ottoman for my home and really love it. I searched and got a deal. I scotch guarded the top to resist any stains. There are so many out there to choose from that are square, oval or round. What I like about mine is the ability to rest your feet on them, hold magazines, phones, or my laptop, and a drink on a book all at the same time. Also, I don't have to dust it or clean it with Windex. Mine has wheels and can roll if needed and one like that on legs would give some visibility to your beautiful rug. It can also hold 250 pounds so it could be used for seating if needed.

It sounds as though your table will fit, but as I'm not clear on which wall is where, let me suggest that you measure carefully. If your chairs, as you say, are not bulky, then you'll need 30" of space between the table and the wall where there is no real traffic pattern, allowing someone to squeeze in and out behind a chair where someone is seated during dinner. But if there is major traffic between the table and the wall, 36" will be required, with the chair pushed part way in with someone seated on the chair. Try these measurements and see if you can navigate around the table with the chairs in use by friends or family at dinner.

Sorry, not sure why the picture didn't post. Here it is again. RL, I like the round pendant and the pleated one in your first set of suggestions. Is that a Nelson bubble pendant? Also, I should have given a few dimensional details. The table is 36" wide at the ends, 40" wide in the center. Ceiling height is 92".
