Any way to stop flaking paint on 70's decorated china cabinet?

I have a painted and distressed Drexel Heritage china cabinet from the 70's that i just love. Colors are taupe, creme and gold. It gets a lot of sunlight and the paint has started to raise and flake in spots. Underneath is a white [I assume primer] coat. Is there anything that I could maybe spray on to prevent more paint from flaking off?

If this was just a plain painted peice, I could just strip and repaint, but as I said it is decorated and distressed.

Any help and suggestions will be very much appreciated!
