Comments (1)Disclaimer: I wouldn't know a McCreary Modern sofa with a Denim-like slip cover if it bit me. However I have cleaned upholstered furniture of all kinds with the small attachment on my steam cleaner with great success. You could try it on the back of the sofa to see if it would work on it. Comments (49)We bought a McCreary down sectional at Macy's in 2005. It's now 2016. We fell in love with it on the floor, in cheerful sunflower yellow pinstripe. It is the best thing we've ever bought. Incredibly comfortable. So soft & cozy. We are also tall, 6"2 & 5"9. We have 2 kids, now 12 & 13, who grew up on this couch. As well as 2 Persian cats a Newfie & Great Pyrenees. (Dogs not allowed on sofa) I wash these slip covers in cold in our washer, dry to damp; using stain spray on stains. They wash clean & fabulous. Nothing has ever frayed, failed or broken. We. Love. This. Sofa. It looks similar to when we bought it 11 years ago. It's huge & impressive. People love it. So much do we love this sofa that just today I contacted our same sales gal at Macy's who sold it to us, seeking to buy a new set of slipcovers. Even though the original ones look great & haven't noticeably faded. We just want to extend the life several more years. :) Our sofa & experience has been great. We also bought a sofa & love seat denim slipcover set from Lazyboy the same year. The cushions totally failed the first year- looking terrible, & LB would not replace. Terrible & not comfortable. The slipcovers on the LB set faded horribly & shrank within first few washings, so much they tore. McCreary sectional meanwhile- looks & feels new after 11 years. :) As well, I have bad asthma and allergies, and am extremely sensitive to smells or off-gassing, and our sofa had no odor at all. I wonder if the above person's sofa that had a strong smell, had come in contact with something at a warehouse, store, etc, if they had fumigated for something? Comments (0)Does anyone know of upholstery fabric suppliers that might (or do supply) to McCreary Modern? I like one of their fabrics to recover my sofa. My quote is $76 per yard from Hi-Fashion Furniture on behalf of McCreary Modern. I think I might be able to work a 20% discount...but man, we're still talking $60.80 per yard. Comments (3)The MG has the advantage of the frame coming with a lifetime warranty (or so says the salesperson). R&B says they'll stand behind their products, and have a great service rep, but no guarantee. The MG frame has "screwed and glued" corners. MM/R&B is stapled and glued. Lifetime warranty means if you make a claim directly with the factory you will have to pay the shipping for any repairs. Better to have a good retailer stand behind it, your "out-of-pocket" expenses will be a LOT less. Further info on the MM/R&B is this: Frame is kiln-dried hardwood, seven-layered engineered, with interlocking mortise and tendon joints, and mitered corner blocks. Seats are "Flexilator" (Tempered steel coil and grid spring platform). Back is webbing with sinuous arc spring, eleven-gauge coil. (None of this means anything to me, a rank novice at this.) Seven layer means plywood. Plywood is strong and stable. It is NOT the traditional manner of making a sofa. Flexilator is a rigid steel grid panel with springs at the back. It operates like a hinge. So when you sit on the sofa, the cushions push down a panel. Known for never squeaking. Its a shortcut method of production. Though I'm not thrilled with the MM construction, R&B has a good reputation and I would feel comfortable buying from them, I think they would do the right thing if you had a problem....See MoreRelated Professionals
