electric radiant heat under hardwood floors - recommendations?

Hi all! Tremendous help from these forums! Thanks!

We're doing a kitchen remodel and want to put electric radiant heat under hardwood floors and I had a few questions. Right now the space is a solid concrete slab ready for us to do anything. Hopefully, someone has some experience with this. Aside from selecting quatersawn, is there anything else I should be looking for in the wood we select? Any particular type work best? Is prefinished an option for this application? Where does the radient pad go? Between sleepers under the plywood? Set in mortar? How thick plywood? How do you avoid hitting the radiant when nailing the flooring down...particularly when you've got to use smaller pieces and can't hit the sleepers?

Sorry for so many questions, just trying to get smarter here.
