It will be easier to see what is what when the shake roof has just been removed and sunlight hits the area for the first time since 1964. If you are going to be using the rafters, a simple 2x4 attached at the proper angle could be engineered to hold all 4 pipes. Thanks for taking a few minutes to check out my post. I appreciate your help. I am not in a high wind/seismic area. But as I read about this kind of wall, parallel to the joists, is that it may be built for the purpose of mitigating side to side movement. But really there are lots of youtube and other people that say "if the wall is parallel to joists it is definitely not load bearing". So, I think that statement is false. At, least for me and my house built in Rockwall Texas by Pulte Homes in 2008!
