Hey, you're very welcome Kate! I'm off work on Sundays and Mondays. But if you come down on a Saturday, I do get off at 3:30, altho that might be too late for you. We'll just have to plan ahead. I might end up taking a week off in a month or so anyway, so will eventually have a full Saturday off. Just haven't decided exactly when. And we never go anywhere. Just enjoy being at home working in the yard and putzing around. Geez, I can't believe you still have snow on the ground! What's your elevation there? It's about 1500 (I think) at my house... or maybe it's 1200. I know the snow melts pretty fast here, when we do get it. This has been a really weird winter here. The oldtimers tell me this IS the norm. But I've lived here off and on since 1975, and this past winter was anything but normal. Speaking of hens & chicks, I have several that I ordered last yr for the store from Chico Propagators. Man, they spread like crazy! We get a lot of really cool perennials from them. They have a great retail nursery also, called The Plant Barn. I think it's on one of the side roads off the Midway on the way to Hodge's. Ya might wanna check them out too, altho they don't carry roses.

I know these posts are quite old but if anyone is thinking that you are getting great quality from Century Furniture when it comes to upholstered furniture, think again, maybe my review will help you to make a right decision. I purchased their leather sofa and fabric chase. The leather sofa cushions are falling apart, the sofa is only 2 years old I care for it fallowing the company recommendation and look it at the picture!!! As I purchased the sofa at Kroungold's furniture store in Marlton NJ as a floor model and I was told that this company has a life time warranty on all their products (here I have to admit, I should have check the warranty rules on Century Furniture company website, well I did not, now I know better, don't trust sells people). Just so you know if you ever buy a store floor model your warranty is void, in my case it really didn't matter because the couch start falling apart after a year or so, the leather quality I should say is questionable. Well before I have notice that the quality was horrible I purchased a chase (expensive must be good, right, the style matched my couch, great!). Before the year was up the seams of my cushion start falling apart in multiple places. I o rder this time a brand new piece of furniture from Delaware store, great price, no tax and very nice people compare to Marlton NJ store and warranty was good too. I had to fight to get a new fabric cover for my cushion, not to mention the cushion is sinking and I rotate the cushion all the time!!! I was even told that they are not going to replace the fabric and I have to find someone to fix it and if the price is right they will give me money back. Keep in mind we are talking about furniture that is on warranty!!! I have to say I kept pushing on the girl at that Delaware store, I even send her the copy of the warranty from Century Furniture Company. I got the replacement but they cut the corners by cutting the fabric in wrong place so you can see the seam on my cushion.

exactly, kwsl.... my color was a medium gray velvet 'pewter' and the color is more like a deep loden green...i actually tried to talk myself into the color (btw, be sure to note that the fabric companies have a CYA notice on the samples stating that 'fabric colors can vary'.....well, alrighty!! that fixes it! (vvbg).... but the more i looked at the sofa itself, (it already has cushion wrinkles!) i realized that no amount of 're-working' or even a new sofa in a different color would be satisfactory...the cushions are poorly made and there is definitely a design issue with my back cushions....in essence if you are sitting on the far side of the sofa (as one typically does to be next to the end table) the cushion leans forward on you, and you are always pushing it back...it quite literally is 'in your face' if you have someone on the opposite end of the sofa (yours is 3 cushion, mine is 2, so i doubt this will be as much of an issue for you)....as i said after just two weeks the cushions are wrinkling and have developed the 'concave' spots where you typically sit....cannot even imagine what it would look like in 6 months....there was a poster here, i believe it was beverly, who even posted a pic of a LEE sofa for one of her clients and she pointed out to me that the cushion quality wasn't the best (but this was after a couple of YEARS so i didn't give it the credence i should have) i'll consider posting pictures, but i will not do so until the matter is completely resolved to my satisfaction...i plan to meet in person with my sales person and customer service rep at C&B this week i checked the date of your last posting which was only a few days ago, and that is why i decided to go ahead and respond this way....mostly though because you said you really preferred the tight back sofa, and as i pointed out, thomasville has one, which i have actually seen in person and sat on...my experience with LEE may not be the same as yours....i too preferred a tight back sofa (all of mine have always been constructed thus) but decided to go with the LEE loose back because of the overall design (just like you) anyway, it took several weeks before my fabric went to LEE for manufacture (it was shipped to C&B then off to LEE) so there was/is plenty of time to put the order on hold should you decide to do so as i doubt the fabric has been sent (although it might have been) one thing i would suggest is that you go to see the fabric yourself, ask your designer to have it delivered to him....mine was a solid color and definitely 'off' (i took a picture of my sample laid upon my sofa and the color differential is obvious but yes, i guess you could call it 'grey' certainly not the color i picked....so anyway, that would at the very least what i would advise anyone getting a custom sofa (live and learn!) i agree with you, kswl....while a $3500~$4000 sofa isn't 'high end' it is far too much to spend on such mediocre craftsmanship...i have an old sofa i bought from macy's over 20 years ago...off the floor, WHITE, and it is STILL in nearly perfect condition...the cushions look better than this brand new LEE...i am NOT joking! way back then, i think i paid $600 for it! it's very frustrating because obviously stores cannot keep every make and model of sofas (LEE has a LARGE catalog of sofas) so sitting on one is pretty much impossible unless you purchase a stock item....i sat on one of the sofas at C&B that was closest to the model i ultimately selected, and even after having the salesperson get a DIAGRAM of my sofa showing the pitch of the back (which was my biggest concern at the time) i still ended up with an unacceptable product... btw...LEE has a TERRIBLE website....they don't have side views of their sofas, let alone a 360 degree view! that should have been the 'tell' for me...how hard can it be to make front, back and SIDE views of custom upholstery? on a more positive note, the thomasville sofa was very pretty and comfortable, and if the LEE is VERY similar, you should be happy with it....looking back i wish i had probably just purchased their floor model! sorry this is so long...your basement is going to be lovely....very much looking forward to the finished room!

Crate & Barrel must have a deal with Lee, they make a minor tweak to the sofa or chair so the name of the piece can change. That way it's harder for customers to comparison shop. You have to ask which pieces are made by Lee, C&B doesn't mention it on the tag. What I did was print the sofas & chairs I liked on Lee's website and brought that with me to C&R. Then I matched up as best I could to what they had on the floor. What you're basically trying to do is find a comperable sofa at C&B that has the same depth, length, height, etc of the one you like on Lee's website. That should give you a pretty good idea what the one you order will be like. I found all of Lee's sofas to be too shallow in the seat except for one large sectional (101"?) that was so long it wouldn't fit in my living room. Have you seen the Baldwin sectional sofa at Macys? It's slipcovered, has lots of options for building the sectional, is made in the USA by a quality company, and looks like a Lee sofa. That's the one I ended up buying after none of the Lee or C&B sofas met all my criteria. Another forum member has this sofa, she bought hers from another store so the company that makes it offers it through different retailers. She loves her sofa too. Something to consider if you're in the market for a slipcovered sofa and haven't found exactly what you want. You don't say where in CA you live so Macys might not work for you either but it can't hurt to mention it. There's not a lot of slipcovered furniture out there.
