Riverside furniture?

Found this manufacturer on a web site featuring Canadel and other Canadian furniture manufacturers. They're carried by a fairly high end furniture store here in Chicago that considers this their "entry level" brand, but I don't think they would carry it if it were garbage.

The table is exactly what I'm looking for, but the price is suspiciously low. $499 for the table and $99 each for the chairs. That's before any sales/promos.

Anyone have any experience with this manufacturer?

Pacific Sales in California carries that brand. I don't know much about the quality though.

Riverside, in general, is medium in quality and price. We have an Ent. Center and side tables from them. They work fine and we like the style and appearance. But, that was back in 1999 when we bought our furniture. At that time, it was all made in the USA. Riverside has since started sourcing some from China. The quality can definitely vary when a company does not make it and just uses inspectors overseas.

The link you posted looks like typical imported in a box table sets that can be purchased at almost any retailer today. If this is what you want, inspect it for details and then price shop it. You have a good chance of finding similar sets on sale or on clearance from others.

I own several Hooker furniture bookcases and an armoire (2001) as well as a Riverside bedroom set (2003). Both have been moved several times and I have no complaints about either one! I should also note that the Riverside bedroom set was used in a rental property. I think both have held up very well over the years.

I toured some model homes recently and they had some nice pieces. I opened the drawers and they were all stamped Riverside. I thought they were made well and the styles definetly appealed to me.

I doubt if you can find it for that amount, and if you do, I think you will soon be disappointed. According to some info found via Google, it is made in China. also...Built with Poplar hardwood solids, engineered wood, cherry veneers, When I think engineered wood in furniture, I think of glued together sawdust. I'd suggest you trying to find something of better quality (wood) used, possibly via Craigslist, if that is available in your area. Sue
