Dear NYC LOVER, When I read your original posting asking for advice on a sleeper sofa/chaise I was happy to see it was the exact same thing I am looking for- style, size and everything! It's funny because I actually just came home from Jensen Lewis where I found the Cadet by Cerrito. It is the one I like the best, but it is just so expensive. I saw one at Macy's- Portofino by Max Home for only $1200. It seems comfortable and has a great flip-flop chaise so you can switch sides, but I am scared of the quality and I can't find much information about it online. I wonder why some couches are close to $4000 and others are only around $1000. I am very curious to know why you chose the Tyler by Carter. Did you see it at Jensen Lewis? I looked at it online and love the look, but what are the dimensions? I couldn't tell from the website. It seems like it might be 117" with the chaise. I can't go over 110." Also, you mentioned you saved $1000 over retail. How? Do you know if it is possible to find the Cerrito sofa online for less? I must decide soon if I should just buy the Cerrito or keep looking. I did purchase my new King mattress from the same local manufacturer that made my custom rv mattress. I love this company, I was able to tell him exactly how I wanted it to feel on top and how much support and firmness for the core. I did get the individual covered separate coils for less movement and the bamboo top fabric because I sleep hot and the bamboo fabric is great for me. It has the euro top instead of the pillow top the old one had. It is just beautiful too. I really debated if I should get a latex layer in the top, ended up not getting it, but if I was doing it again it would be worth the extra money. I love my latex pillows so much I think I would like the latex layer. I absolutely did not want any type of memory foam I can't stand it. I do have the option to let him take it back and add the latex layer still. Another great thing about this place! I have recommended them to several of our friends, especially those with an rv. And the prices are fantastic. So far I have not had any back pain like I was having from the old one. Super comfortable and extremely supportive. I especially wanted the heavy solid foam sides which will support you sitting on the edge or pushing on it getting up and out. I am a side sleeper and I tend to sleep on the edge of the bed, it supports me completely. I could jump on my side and never move my husband's side. The only thing that I wish was different is how much higher this one is. Thank goodness my sheets still fit. I have no idea if they ship out or not but I know they deliver all around the Houston area.

The American Upholstery sofas sold by Room & Board have the back come off and it breaks into much smaller pieces. We got one up and down the stairs in a pretty narrow row house. I think ours is the Berin model. Not sure if it goes specifically down to 29", but i'm sure if you called Room and Board they could provide guidance. American Upholstery pull outs are also notoriously the most comfortable bed/sofa combos. It is used in our playroom/guestroom, and i also like it because i wash the cushion covers in the machine all the time (and line dry) and they come out perfect.

I don't think I have really slept on a comfortable sleeper sofa and I have slept on many. You always seem to fall to the middle and the springs and mattress hurt your back. I have heard the comfort sleeper by American Leather is better designed but I haven't slept on one. Have you thought about a nice daybed instead? You can decorate with pillows? We have one from World Market that's a light grey boho style - the "antique grey Indonesian". Not sure if you are more into modern style - if you are - then that won't work for you. We also owned a folding sleeper chair/like a narrow twin bed. It was more comfortable than most sleeper sofa's but really ugly and not practical to sit on in a living room. Good luck!
