We have had the Pergo XP (Extreme Performance) installed in our house for a few years now, and if I had to do it again, I would have used something else. In my opinion, the XP stands for Extremely Poor. The floor wasn't even installed a week, when a plastic cooler was slid across the floor when filling it to go on a trip, and it scratched the floor in multiple spots. Fixed it with their repair pen, but still quite noticeable. Pergo's website claims: "Designed to withstand scratches, scuffs and pet accidents." We also have pets and had a tinkle accident that we did not see until morning. The flooring had soaked it up and swelled and buckled, etc. We were able to fix with lots of paper towel and a stack of books to weigh it down, but still. We live in Montana, so a flooring product that more or less can't get wet seems a little useless. After all, we live where is snows, rains, etc. Additionally, just 2 days ago I dropped a pair of pliers which chipped a chunk out of the floor. Really???? DANG!!!! That was the last straw. What good is a flooring product that cannot get wet, drop things on, slide things across, etc. Hey Pergo - Life Happens. Next time I plan on putting flooring down in a "controlled environment bubble".... it still wouldn't be Pergo. If you plan on wanting to live on and use the place you plan to put this product, I would have to suggest finding something else to use. This is the most "hands on" maintenance flooring I have ever had. Next project is probably going to be rip this s%@$ out and go with something a little more "life friendly"

He is so used to seeing me put tiles on the floor that he just pretends I am not looking at tiles again. :) I agree that going with a big company that will stand behind their installation may be good for me. I guess after writing the long post in the link below about tile size and my results of the Lowe's visit, any of the decisions will not be bad and I want to decide what to do by tomorrow so I can hire an installer and get this job done already. I also would love it if I found someone that was good at using the Epoxy grout since to not have the grout sealed for 1 week may not be that great if my little Skeeter misses the puppy pad that I keep in the middle foyer for him in case I am busy and do not have time to take him outside in the backyard. We installed it in our basement. DH wanted it. We picked the most expensive kind they had and tried very hard to scratch the sample with keys. I was fine with him selecting the color and when we went to place the order we discovered they had discontinued it. Ok, so we selected another one and had it installed. Fast forward not long from then and we had some water damage due to our stupidity in the basement that flooded a large section. We had extra flooring but apparently not enough to repair. Well they discontinued that color as well and we've searched all over the country as well as had flooring companies search and can't get it. Maybe it was just a fluke that this happened twice but I'm done with Pergo. The whole thing irritates me. I also couldn't find an email address on their website when I wanted to communicate with them. They did have a phone number thankfully. I honestly also don't like how it feels to walk on it. If not real wood I think I'd rather have vinyl or carpet under my feet. Whatever you go with buy a lot of extra!! I think arcy's DH is correct when she says it looks like a picture of wood with no depth. It just doesn't look like real wood no matter how hard I try to convince myself. It might be the combination of that paired with how it feels under foot.

Wow, you managed to get landscape photos that weren't full of people. I did try, but they all have a stray pair of legs or a couple people in the background. How bad were you? I had 16 hostas by the time I got home, but three were freebies, one was because I needed a "Grace" hosta for a kitty grave and 4 came from a stop in Dubuque. I would have loved Grace Wins, but it's in TC and won't be out for 2 to 3 years. I had to settle for Amazing Grace. Great name but a meh hosta. I had a hard time finding things in the vendor area. In the Country and Bob Solberg's booths were OK, but some of the others were just piles of pots. Jack Barta had nice big hostas on the floor, but I had both hands full and couldn"t get down to read the tags without bumping people. Probably just as well, the garden is already full.
