If it is rough, sand and spray again. There are many things that can cause sprayed work to come out rough. It could be overspray or the paint may not be atomizing properly because of pressure settings or temperature. It could be simply that your first coat has raised the grain of the wood and you now need to sand that grain smooth again and recoat. Keep in mind that the factory primer on pre-primed trim is generally very low quality so for best results you would want to re-prime with something of high quality, sand smooth and spray your finish coats. Remember that overspray will fly around and land on freshly sprayed items which will make them rough. You either need to have all pieces in the spray area wet at the same time or spray a few pieces and move them out of there before spraying the next few pieces.

I have some really bad news. :( We went over the beam locations today in final preparation to order the beams for the living room. The bad news is that we are not going to be able to make them work there. It's a combination of structural support and spacing constraints (recessed lighting, sky lights and windows) that aren't allowing us to space them evenly or in a natural looking way. I am so frustrated. I've spent days trying to figure out how to make them work. The only way to make it work is to move the skylights and there's no way my husband is gonna go for that. Now the big question is... do I put beams in the entry? I have about a 20 foot long passageway with cathedral ceiling that leads past the dining room on one side and a wine closet on the other leading into the living room. Would it be ok to put beams there or is it going to be weird if I don't have them elsewhere in the house?

It's hard for me to say what it could be without actually "being there" to touch it and inspect the areas you are talking about... What's causing your concern could just be a little caulk residue left on the surface of the stone, or other stuff like lacquer (sp?) overspray from your cabinets, etc. It could ALSO be epoxy or polyester glue residue left on the surface of the stone from the fabrication, installation and/or seaming process. The easiest and best way to tell what it could be is to take a straight razor (don't do this if you are not very good with sharp objects - LOL) and try to scrape off the residue (like you would when you're cleaning glass)... in most cases, the razor will take off the "mystery gunk" and life will be good. Dont worry - if you have Granite, you wont hurt the stone at all doing this - I PROMISE!!! On the other hand - IF you try the "razor trick", and the roughness persists, you'll prolly want to call in the Fabricator to see what's up. Is the roughness at a seam line, or somewhere else on the countertop assembly? can you post pics? that may help you get a more accurate idea of what your situation actually is.......... hth kevin

there is a plant propogation book i have wherein the author describes his own mist system. that author has a large black coil of hose in the roof of his greenhouse so that water can be heated before reaching the mist nozzles. that's at least one vote for using warm water and keeping the cuttings reasonably warm as they root. just thought i would toss that in! lol. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: mosaic z8 LA (My Page) on Sun, May 11, 03 at 11:59 With such a setup you could probably root roses under mist all winter here in Louisiana. My batteries did last all season last year, but it was only opening that valve 4x a day for 3 weeks, and then 1x every 4 days for a couple of months. And even though I had a pressure regulator on there, I kept having a problem with the heads blowing off! (Their drippers work perfectly by the way so it's nothing against the company) I ordered foggers from Misty Mate this year and they put out a super fine fog. Perfect for propagation. They are a litte more expensive than the ones from Dripworks but worth it. And if you ask they will ship the misting heads for $1.50. I went to HD and bought a 10-24 tap and drill set (3.00) and drilled holes in my 1/2" cvpvc and the heads just screwed right in! I bought a Melnor timer at HD for $39 and it has 1 minute spray options so I've got it set for 1 minute every 10 minutes. Can't remember the model number but it's not the one on the HD website. I hope to finish my new propagation box soon. I built one on a stand this year so I can move it around easily. Wouldn't you know, HD has plastic sheeting made just for greenhouses that I used! It's not the real thick heavy stuff either. It's only 4mil and is crystal clear see-thru! Hopefully I'll be finished this week!
