conversion of wood fireplace to gas insert

I just ordered a Mendota gas fireplace insert for the upper level of my house where we spend most of our time and am considering the possibility of also converting the fireplace in the lower level. While I am tempted to do this so that the dealer will give me a discount on two units and so that I will enjoy the convenience of gas, I am worried that it may not be prudent to do so. I am concerned that this may adversely affect the resale value of the house since many people do enjoy a real, crackling fire and also worry about the possibility of an interruption of the flow of gas. These days, anything is possible. Your thoughts, please.
