Sleeper sofa

I want to purchase a sleeper sofa containing a queen size bed. This will be used only a few times per year. The only comments I've ever heard about sleeper sofas is they're uncomfortable both as a sofa and as a bed!

Yipes!

Can anyone recommend a brand or model that will be comfortable? I haven't done any shopping yet. I would prefer to have some information before I go to the stores.

I have a Stickley sleeper sofa.

It is VERY comfortable - both as a sofa AND as a bed.

LazyBoy also has inflatable mattresses over their innerspring mattresses in some of their sofabeds (SlumberAir Mattress, it's called). My 86 year old mother slept comfortably on it when she visited, as do all my guests. I think Flexsteel also has the same thing.

We owned a sleeper sofa once and said, "Never again." They weigh a ton, and ours wasn't comfortable. I can't even remember the name brand -- it was a long time ago.

I don't think I have really slept on a comfortable sleeper sofa and I have slept on many. You always seem to fall to the middle and the springs and mattress hurt your back. I have heard the comfort sleeper by American Leather is better designed but I haven't slept on one. Have you thought about a nice daybed instead? You can decorate with pillows? We have one from World Market that's a light grey boho style - the "antique grey Indonesian". Not sure if you are more into modern style - if you are - then that won't work for you. We also owned a folding sleeper chair/like a narrow twin bed. It was more comfortable than most sleeper sofa's but really ugly and not practical to sit on in a living room. Good luck!
