So what does the gas sputtering and uneven flame mean?
Comments (6)With the burner that has the uneven flame, it's likely that the burner ring is not seated properly - take off the burner cap, then lift off the burner ring and reseat it - there's only one correct position for it - there's a pin on the bottom that has to fit into a hole for the ring to sit properly. The sputtering simmer burner could be a dirty simmer ring - surprising on a brand new cooktop. Try running it for a little while and see if it improves. If not you can clean the holes in the simmer ring. Take off the burner cap, take off the regular burner ring. Then remove the simmer ring using a hex wrench. You can clean the holes in the simmer ring using a paper clip. You can certainly call for service but I'd try that first - it's a good thing to learn how to do since the simmer ring will occasionaly get dirty from boilovers....See Moreodor from natural vent gas coal fireplace
Comments (1)I recently installed a direct vent fireplace in my basement and am also experiencing a "burn off" odor. The flames start out mostly blue when cold but develope into a nice natural flame in 10-15 minutes. At first the odor was fairly strong but it has diminished. I have probably run the fireplace a total of 16-18 hours and it still produces some odor. I am hopeing that it will eventually go away completely. Any experienced input on this would be appreciated....See More42' gas fireplace with realistic flames?
Comments (4)Saw a GLX last week, and they are very impressive. Check out the Mendota line: very similar burn, but they don't have the inbox electric light. They have a great range of BTUs, but be careful-- some other companies reduce the heat by opening an extra vent flap and sending all the heat up the chimney. Mendotas actually reduce the burn rate. They are rolling out a clean face model very similar to the GLX, but I haven't seen one running yet. Here is a link that might be useful: mendota...See MoreGreenhouse natural gas heater quit working
Comments (0)Hi In greenhouse we have natural gas heater. It stopped working today for some reason (won't run). Pilot light is still on but the main burners do not light. Does thermocouple fail quickly? We had to bend the thermocouple a bit to get it in more direct flame when we first started using it (thr equipment has been sitting unused for 5-6 years). The fan, when it was working, would occassionally cycle on and off when we started using it, but we didn't notice it lately and we have been using it for almost two months now....See Moreturbolover
