Should I reupholster my 23 yr. old Ethan Allen sofas?
Comments (2)Live_Wire_Oak,thanks for responding. I certainly value your opinion. I'm well aware that EA sofas today are not at all the same quality and had no intention of ordering from them, but rather from a higher end manufacturer. In fact, when my sofas were new, I was somewhat disappointed with how these cushions sat compared with what I had been accustomed to with my other sofa. I want sofas to last through my retirement years and am willing to pay to get that quality. The concern is that our family lays on these sofas often to watch TV or rest. I already know that the proportions of the loveseat, including the T-seat cushion allows for comfortable leg extension and all the padding on the rolled arm rest works well as a head support. And the dimensions work well in the room even though I have downsized to a smaller home. I should add that my ID is self-employed and charges by the hour so it financially makes no difference as far as she is concerned which direction I go. Also, the style I like is frequently available for customization by some of the major sofa manufacturers such as Henredon, Massoud, and Hickory Chair....See MoreWhich loveseat should I choose?
Comments (4)Funny, I do actually have two leather chairs in there now. It looks great as a formal lr, but I can't seem to make the arrangement work for watching tv. Right now the tv is against the wall behind the two chairs. So you have to view the tv between the chairs. It isn't horrible, but because the sofa is so small only 2 people can really watch the tv at a time. The chairs aren't really that comfy anyway for tv watching. So I was thinking of rearranging the room so that the tv could be seem from either the couch or new loveseat and move one of those chairs into the bedroom and leave the other one. I've written about my strange lr arrangement problem before. Here is a link to that posting. My lr has been rearranged since that last post. Now the couch is centered in front of the window (but away from it, not against) and the chairs are on the other side of the fireplace facing the couch. Let me know what you think. I've been thinking about this problem for a good 6 months now! Here is a link that might be useful: Last Post...See Moremy sofa loveseat - came and I am thrilled:)
Comments (11)well, when I said I wasn't too good with the camera, I was hyping my camera skills. I wish I knew how to do this better- I am posting the pix I took, but they are lousy. The colors don't show well at all, and it's hard to see the details. I guess what matters is that I think it looks great- (and feels wonderful to sit on a nice, firm but not too firm cushion and back). I just draped the swatch on the sofa, and it really is the same. It's very strange, because the pillow fabric in REAL LIFE and LIGHTING, is only a tad darker than the sofa (and looks great on it_--- but in the photo it looks like night and day difference). Well maybe tomorrow I will get a better likeness. Also the nailheads don't show up too well and in real life are definitely there but are rather understated a I got antiqued brass....See MoreReupholstering Small Love Seat. Comments (8)You may well be more likely to find either that gray as a solid color or that gray color within a print that find an exact match. If the cushion cover has a zipper, remove the inner pillow and look for a label. Do take that cushion w/you as you shop craft stores and even big box stores ... or at least the cushion cover if it has a zipper and is removable. Failing all else, black or gray can go with just about anything. Another thought: You could use that cushion atop a short wooden footstool and use different altogether different material for your sofa that will work with that. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Wildkin-Slatted-Step-Stool-Oak-Finish/54458621?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=1172&adid=22222222227056741967&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=160786217025&wl4=pla-270019968143&wl5=9011047&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8453398&wl11=online&wl12=54458621&wl13=&veh=sem&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzb7jy9yR3gIVxoCfCh0W9A6zEAQYAiABEgKFXfD_BwE...See Morebobismyuncle
