Flexsteel vs. Lane vs. Natuzzi leather sectionals
Comments (53)AVOID NATUZZI. My review and experience is that it is the only piece of furniture I have where the actual frame has broken. The metal frame on one section and the wood in another. We bought one of their highest end sectionals and upgraded to the high end leather. The leather has lasted but the metal frame that raised and lowered the head portions snapped. The wood frame buckled and snapped where the couches joined (in the least used portion of the sofa. Quality issues can can happen with anyone but what makes this uniques for something we spent quite a bit on,NATUZZI has not stood behind their product. It has taken about a dozen calls to get someone out to inspect the couch. When they came out they refused to cover the metal infrastructure that snapped. At every step you have to call and email multiple times to get a response as they pass the buck around and around. Bad company. Poor product....See Moreleather sleeper sofa
Comments (6)I searched far and wide for a leather queen sleeper and ended up with one manufactured by American Leather (americanleather.com). Sleep comfort was really important to me, and though I was not purchasing it for my primary use, I had never been able to sleep comfortably on any sleeper before. That's now changed. This one is different, the way they do the mattress is unique, it's actually more like padded sections. I've since had many guests and many positive comments, people are really impressed by the comfort. It's still not a real bed, but in the sleeper sofa world I haven't seen anything come close. I don't exactly remember the price, I think it was from about $2,500 depending on type of leather or fabric. Custom delivery is extremely fast. Couldn't be happier....See MoreMy Experience with Smith Brothers of Berne, IN
Comments (32)Vivi, I am about to order a King Hickory sectional, but have not yet. I have checked out the quality of their construction first hand though. You can see in the link King Hickory uses solid or gold standard construction techniques. But I test out the furniture on the showroom floors to make sure the construction is solid. Two tests (of many) for "solidness" of construction are: 1. Lifting the couch off the ground by one leg. The second leg should lift off the ground almost immediately (1 inch maximum). The King Hickory does as well or better than every couch I have tested, regardless of price. Layered plywood frames on some other manufacturers have to be lifted 2-4 inches before the 2nd leg lifts. This amount of flex is not good. 2, Wiggle the arms to see if they are solidly attached. Again the King Hickory does great. Kiln dried hardwood, double doweled, and corners braced makes for a solid piece of furniture. I choose the loose box welted cushion. l wanted the flexibility of taking the cushions off the couch for more room when laying down on the couch at night when I have insomnia or when our adult kids come for a visit. Also the loose cushion allows you to easily have it refilled or reupholstered down the line without having to bring the whole couch or have the upholsterer make a visit. Flipping the pillow over is also a big plus if you have a tough stain. I am not affiliated with King Hickory or the furniture trade in any way. I am just a working stiff who values bang for his buck and quality construction. I will say the Smith Brothers pieces I checked out also seemed well built but a bit more expensive and did not fit our space. From what I read Lexington is rated A+ by the BBB and responds to all customer concerns. You will want to read and follow their instructions carefully before accepting or rejecting delivery (check for damage). The delivery company will reserve the right to fix any damage. Also their delivery times tend to be longer because they wait until they can fill a truck before they send one across the country. If you need a local store to hold your hand through the process they are probably not right for you. You need to know the exact model, fabric, options etc before you buy. But in my case they will likely save me $1,600 on a King Hickory factoring in delivery and taxes. $7000 seems a bit high to me for upholstery. But perhaps the larger footprint of your sectional and the premium fabric bring the price up. We chose the Bentley which is customizable. For 3 pieces (sofa, curved corner and love seat) we are looking at $3,400 to $5,100 with tax and delivery depending upon the retailer....See Morelooking for real reviews of Pottery Barn Turner Leather soda
Comments (70)I purchased the Turner Square Arm leather sofa and armchair from Pottery Barn, investing $6,000 with high expectations for a premium product. Unfortunately, my experience has been deeply disappointing. Upon delivery, I noticed a white spot on the leather upholstery—a mark resembling discoloration. I contacted customer service, anticipating a resolution for the imperfection in such an expensive item. To my surprise, I was informed that Pottery Barn considers these imperfections as "tick mark," natural marks rather than a defect, and therefore not eligible for replacement or repair. As a customer, I find it unacceptable to be expected to accept such imperfections in a high-end product. If Pottery Barn's policy is that customers should accept these imperfections, then theoretically, they can classify any imperfections/marks as a "natural mark." Furthermore, Pottery Barn does not provide any warranty, and if any defect or imperfection occurs with their product, they don't stand behind their product quality to offer replacement or repair. If you're considering buying from Pottery Barn, be aware that what you receive may not meet your expectations—and customer service may simply dismiss your concerns. I regret this purchase and would not recommend it to anyone seeking true luxury and quality assurance....See MoreRelated Professionals
