How would you work this sofa

Hey Guys,

I have a dilemma here. I am moving to a new home and was going to purchase a new sofa, but a quality sofa that I like is going to cost me at least $1,000. I feel it is silly to spend that money when I have a decent one. The problem with the one I have is the style. It is black leather with white stitching which I feel is a modern/casual look. I am going for old world/traditional/antique etc. I was going to buy a red sofa and my color scheme was going to be dark woods, reds (in terms of pillows, etc) and creams, tans. Occassional furniture would be ornate - but not to detailed..just enough to be rich. I feel this sofa takes away from that.

However, I had an idea. What if I covered up the white stitching somehow. That might make the sofa blend better right? Wouldn't this work with what I am trying to do. What do you think or is it a loss. Any ideas. I also have very small cat scratches on it that maybe i can have a leather specialist come and quote me on - the scratches are very minor. Here are photos of the sofa i have and I have also included photos of the side chairs and occassional table I planned to do - a red or cream sofa would have went perfect....

Looks like I may need to restuff the pillows a little - this should be something I can do myself I believe. Also if you notice the leather sofa is slightly tufted - if I cover up the white stitching the detail may not be as evident. Should I put bottons or something ornate where the tufts are?
