Chenille leaves spots
Comments (1)I know someone who also got chenille on a sofa and had problems with it. Theirs had to do with the fabric pilling. It's looking like chenille is probably a fabric better left for something other than sofas that get a lot of wear and tear....See MoreACL tear in dog's knee
Comments (52)My 6 year old husky/shepherd mix tore her CCL (it is called a canine cruciate ligament in dogs, not ACL like a human) on January 5th, 2015. We opted for conservative care versus surgical after I extensively researched all options. Even with surgery, they have up to 40% chance of having arthritis in the stifle (knee joint). That is about the same as the odds of having it without surgery. Also, surgery so restricts their movement that often, up to 30-40% of dogs have the same injury happen to the other leg. I found that number to be much less with conservative care. She is just over 8 weeks out and walks on four legs fine at a slow speed. We never crated her, just restricted her movement. No jumping or running. (she had a setback once when some idiot let her out of her pole barn and she ran a bit....set us back a bit, but not much). She walks up to 15 minutes at a time on all four legs with her A-Trac Brace which I bought for her. Almost full pressure on injured leg. We walk her with the brace 1 time per day and give her 3 other walks without out it for about 5 minutes each. When she speeds up she does life the leg UNLESS she is on a mission (smells a rabbit or something along those lines). I know it will take many more months before she will full on using the leg 100% of the time and from here on out, we will restrict her running unless she is wearing the brace. But I guess the point I am making is that you can heal them without surgery. My vet is very impressed at the healing she has had. In fact he suggested surgery right away and I told him I was going to try the conservative treatment. He checked her at 4 weeks and was astonished at her level of healing. She was on pain meds for a couple weeks and also Meloxicam (anti-inflammatory) which she is still on, along with a supplement. I also give her organic bone broth with each meal (known to help with joints) and she gets lots of natural healing including Reiki energy healing and work with stones and crystals. She is doing wonderful. I know it is a long process and I am willing to work through it for her benefit....See MoreNeed a nice tightly woven area rug that cats cannot tear up!
Comments (20)this is just a remark from my vet: "if i didn't de-claw cats, many of my clients would either get rid of their cats or have them euthanized". now, i have a cat and he is not de-clawed and he really is not a huge scratcher/ripper. he has he's posts and cardboard scratchers and his happy with those. so i don't have any issues with furniture being destroyed. but i do understand his point of view, b/c that would happen. i would rather have people keep their cats than have them destroyed b/c of scratching. i don't agree with it, but its better than the alternative, i guess. my bigger issue is having your cat outdoors and killing wildlife. do a little research and see what a huge negative impact domestic cats have on wildlife. cats are meant to be indoors. wildlife do not "know" that they exist and have no natural instincts to be aware of them. even if your cat has a bell on, that does not register with wildlife. what natural predator has a bell on?? its illegal to have your cat outdoors in our neighborhood. if your cat is picked up and u go to the shelter to retrieve it, you are fined for having your cat outside. so please, think about it and keep your cat indoors. if u provide enough toys and stimulation, your cat will be happy, live longer and have less diseases..... in response to the OP,, no, i don't know what kind of rug to recommend, sorry...See MoreRug experts.....is this normal wear and tear?
Comments (10)This is not the rug I was talking about, but this is another rug I have. This rug is 48 years old. It ran in the front hall of my parents house for ten years or so and then it was in my father's office at work, which was a lab in a commercial building and it was on a VCT floor over concrete with no pad. It was behind my father's desk and the wheels of his desk chair ran back and forth over it and he rubbed his shoes back and forth on it I am assuming, like he did at home, for probably twenty years. So at least two decades of concentrated wear on parts of it. Of course rugs like this, arguably, can be completely threadbare and down to strings on the edges and still look okay, while fashion rugs sorta have to look new to look good. Maybe you need to get something that takes a beating gracefully....See MoreRelated Professionals
