I love the Clear app -- allows multiple checklists, easy to use, you can swipe things off the list permanently as you complete the task/buy the item, or temporarily if they are items you often buy so that you don't have to make the same lists over and over again.

Interested in this also, as I have tried many over the past two or three years and have always reverted back to outlook for the best integration of calendar and lists. I work on a desktop at the office, a laptop at home (our professional software is still not fully functional on the ipad or safari, for that matter) and play on iphones and iPads. There is no list functioning across both operating systems that also integrates with my email and calendar.

I have purchased every "outlook friendly" app and they are all terrible.

Mtnredux, I am always scanning "best app" lists from places as disperse as Wired emag to ladies magazines in hopes of finding something functional. The last one I tried was todoist. Don't bother--

I have heard of one called "To Do" but I have not tried it.

I also use Outlook calendar sync.

I like Google Tasks (w/ GoTasks for iPhone). Tasks is available on any Internet browser, integrates w/ gmail and you can create multiple lists.

I listen to tech podcasts and at the end they recommend their favorite app. They recommended "any.do" it has 5 stars with over nine thousand ratings which is pretty impressive. My daughter who has a memory impairment downloaded it and raves about it. If it works for her it must be good!

Any do is not very full featured. For example, no color coding. It's very basic. Drop list is somewhat better, using access to your contacts and allowing you to call the relevant person right from the list entry. But it is still
not a wonderful, do everything app.

This doesn't have to do with do-do lists, but wonder if anyone has installed the flashlight app? It's awesome, and better than using the phone itself.

Mt , You could scan your lists and sync them over a cloud account. Or you could kep them on one note or evernote, which would make them more project like, useful for vacations, school lists, hanksgivi g dinner, etc. You could keep certain lists on that kind of program and the sims shopping list in something else.

I have two - To Do's and 2Do Lite. I use To Do's to keep various shopping lists for different stores and a few other things like that. I use 2Do Lite for specific things I need to do by a certain date. I put DH's list in the iPhone Notes app and email it to him occasionally. He doesn't make lists and I can't imagine how one could function without them. His list is basically my list of things that need to get done that I'm hoping he will do.

I've used these two apps for years - could be better ones now.

It's not an app - as far as I know - but I access it from all my devices. It's incredibly simple to use and very flexible.

Marina, I just went on the app store and there was workflowy. I watched the instructional videos online and have downloaded the app on my phone. It would be totally fabulous for a student who is learning to outline, what a neat tool! Thanks very much for that recommendation. I hope mtnredux tries it.

kswl - so glad you like it! I love it. I don't know why it's not better known - when someone tipped me off a year or so ago I was so grateful. And now I am grateful that you told me is was an app - I'm on it!

I have very very long to do lists because I put anything I can think of on it. From minutiae to the grandiose. I like to run errands very efficiently and logically so if I don't have it well organized it is quite irksome.

Doesn't everyone have 'notes'(notepad w/flip pages)on their iphone? It's all I use for multiple lists, but maybe it's too simplified.

Workflowy sounds interesting so will check it out. If not for me, for very busy daughters.

The notepad app syncs across the iPhone and iPad, but not any pc device, e.g. my Lenovo or Sony computers. I need something that works across all platforms.

Since I downloaded workflowy I have been contacted by one of the developers asking for "brutally honest" feedback on its features and usefulness. They are really interested in improving this product, which is a Good Thing. (Sorry, Martha)

Okay, my whole to-do list is now on Workflowy. It could not be easier to use. I like it a lot. I had my kids d/l it too. I am a big fan. I was happy that it was relatively painless to cut and paste it from my docx file.

I ended up upgrading to Workflowy pro, which will automatically backup my list to a drop bpx, enable me to edit offline, and also gave me additional fonts and themes for the look of the app. Pricey, though, at $49/yr.

On that last point, I think they could really improve the looks. Even with Workflowy Pro's extra choices, the look is very spartan. And the themes were designed by a 13yo boy I think. It sounds minor, but it isn't. It will be something I look at every day. How tough is it to allow different background colors and fonts?

Two other comments. One, Any. Do has voice recognition. That is very handy; they should add it. Two, I think items on the list that have due dates associated with them could be handled differently. Right now you can tag them with a hash tag, but I think you they should make it easier to associate and item with a due date, perhaps using a drop down calendar.

Agree, that if the workflowy items had a date optional feature that would automatically add to one's calendar.... what a wonderful world it would be :-)

Mtn - I need to write things down - random to-do items - when they come to me, or my mind gets "unsettled." My lists include things that need to be done the next 12 hours as well as those that would be nice to do in the next 10 years (!) and fit in many, many categories. When I found workflowy it was kind of stunning b/c it seems so obvious that this is how lists and outlines should be managed.

And, yes, it would be great to download to a calendar!
