Transition Between Floating Eng. Wood and Tile

We are planning our installation of the Trafficmaster floating engineered floor in our living room, family room, and dining room with a matte porcelein tile walkway going through it (Our kitchen and bathroom are connected to the walkway and will also be tile). We are installing it over a concrete floor. I love the look when wood is next to tile and there is metal in between. I know that I need some some of T molding because of the floating floor. Would something like the following from Schluter work? Could we use the wide one? The installer said that he could raise the tile to meet the wood.

There is another that is set under the tile and has a pivot to the wood, but I'm concerned about having it installed under the tile. What if it gets beat up and needs to be replaced?

One other question. Our wood will be going up to a raised hearth in front of our fireplace that is made of black marble. We can't attach molding to it, and like I said, our floor is concrete. What can we do there?

The Reno-T should work well for your situation.

I undercut stone and run the wood underneath. looks very clean and still allows for expansion. I have some pictures of how that is done.

Thanks! After I wrote this message, I was worried about the Reno T because it has to be in a sense, glued in. I read that you can't get any glue on the floating floor, because then it can't expand. Can we try to just try to concentrate the stuff on the bottom and the tile. I know some will get on the wood, but we could try to minimize the amount? What size do you think would be best?

I'd love to see how you did the stone! Our marble is only the width of tile, would that be enough to put the ends of the wood under? There is cement board under the marble.

Also, what kind of molding do we use at the sliding glass doors?

Have you used these moldings before? Which holds up best?

One other question (sorry!). We are having the tile installed professionally and we are doing the wood. We were planning to have the tile installed first, and then add the wood (the pathway is about 3 1/2 wide). Is that a good plan?

I would also like to see a picture, but my general thought is that it should be laid how it looks best in the kitchen, particularly if the transition between the two areas is a typical size doorway.

First, the transition location should be located in the area covered by the door when closed(not like the second picture), IMHO. Second, making a transition like that is doable, even if the two surfaces are not perfectly even. But, the difference should not be more than 1/8". I have done similar transitions between tile and nailed hardwood. Not sure if a floating hardwood floor would move enough to cause a problem. Might try a siliconized colored caulk that would allow minor movement.

If all the flooring is installed and now you are addressing the transition the only thing you can do shy of ripping out one or the other is a trasition strip. How did you not know there would be a height difference earlier? You could have built up the subfloor much easier then than dealing with it now.
