Matching Couch, Coffee Table, Floor,etc.

livingroom

We have an oak hard wood floor floor and "swiss coffee" colored walls (a creamy light beige/ivory). We just bought a sectional microfiber couch that is a cool-tone very light gray/beige/vanilla color.

We're thinking of cherry wood for the entertainment unit, coffee table & end table to have a contrast of some kind. However, my fear is that cherry wood looks very formal and I'd like to keep the living room nice and cozy-casual.

The rest of our house is casual--mostly warm wood tones of maple, oak, and walnut.

Would the cherry wood look right with oak floors or would it provide a nice contrast??

Would cherry wood look too formal in our home?? (the furniture style itself is not formal at all; it's very simple).

The cherry is more a cool-tone; not a warm tone, and has flat silver knobs. Will this not match the rest of the feel of the house??

If not cherry, what color wood would be appropriate? If you think the cherry would look right, why?

Thanks in advance.
