Insulated vs. Non insulated Insert Vent

I'm picking up my Pacific Energy insert on Thursday. I will install it thereafter.

I bought 6" stainless flex pipe to vent it through the existing flue.

The existing flue is 25' from the floor of the fireplace to the top of the last flue liner.

The fireplace is ont he first floor, and the fireplace stack stays within the outside siding of the house through the second floor. The stack then has about 2 or 3 feet in an attic and then about 6 feet on top of the roof.

Would an insulated 6" vent pipe make a substantial difference in stove performance?

Rather than buy an insulated pipe, has anybody ever tried wrapping the flex liner in insulation? Anybody see any issues with that?

Thanks.
